GTA V is Getting a Server Browser (Mod)
Grand Theft Auto: Multiplayer is a mod developed as an alternative to GTA: Online. Notable features include an overhauled menu gui and the option to browse dedicated servers that, you, the community can host. Users will also have access to a local sandbox editor which you can invite others to. The sandbox will include an object and world editor allowing players to control virtually every aspect of the game with scripts as well as a full development interface.

GTA: MP will include a preferences overlay in addition to the in-game settings menu which will allow users to adjust network settings and allocate additional system resources (CPU and RAM usage) to the game. The modification will also have a self-updater, eliminating the need to navigate through system directories to replace individual outdated files.

The most important aspect of this project is the fact that the mod will serve as a ’back end’ for future user-made modifications, gametypes and maps. This will be a platform for modders to build on in hopes of creating simple add-ons, total conversions, overhauls, unofficial patches, and graphics modifications. This incredibly ambitious project could facilitate the next Altis Life, Garry’s Mod or Counter Strike.

Disclosure: The base code for this mod has been in development since 2013. The objective has been creating a module based multiplayer without the need for any third party applications. GTA: MP is considered an early access project and only a few people are participating the closed beta builds currently. The small team this project consists of develops on their free time and, given the scope of promised features, may take a while to complete. These guys are from various parts of Europe and, as far as I can tell, are extremely talented programmers. One of the project leaders, BitEmE, announced today that they brought another reverse engineer on board to speed up development.

This all may sound too good to be true and although GTA V has only been out for a little over one week the GTA: MP team has something to show for it:

For additional information or questions about the mod you can visit https://gta-mp.net
If you want to see GTA V expand beyond its current, yet awesome, state you should show your support and spread the word about GTA: MP as this is the most promising modification that exists for the game at this time.

The dev team says that they are being supported by a Rockstar North 'Senior Developer' so you would hope that there would be no bans. It's funny how last week the ENBSeries guys wrote on thier site that it is 'impossible to do anything' in reguard to modding the GTA V game files. Rockstar made it impossible? This mod is proof that is not the case.

That ENB series guy is very irritable, though. Some guy politely requested he re-did the code for some resident evil game once it dropped G4WL, and the dev got pissed at the dude or something. I'd understand if the poster was being annoying, but he was fairly polite in his request. I wouldn't trust anything that guy says.

I think of the current GUI as an IQ test that filters out most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ im worried with ease of use of this mod everyone would be able to figure out hwo to play multiplayer!

There will be game modes that do not even have missions, heists, jobs and so on. Hence, there would be no pesky notifications. The beauty of mods is that the experiences you have with GTA V are customizable. There is a little something for everyone.

Sweet. A promising PC port of this game. Hopefully we wont get banned for using a mod that makes the game playable.
Not a port.

I'd rather have a good official online mode to be honest. This mod is cool and all but it splits the community, and somehow ruins the Online project.

The community is already strong enough with 225,000 people in-game at the moment I type this. Let us face it: the GTA IV community would have died off long ago if it were not for mods.

Edit: Oh, and let us not forget about GTA SA.

To be honest, I will probably prefer to play on the official servers from Rockstar. Unlike others, I haven't had any issues so far in GTA Online except the Fleeca scope out bug. Unless there are some really really interesting and great mods coming out, I stick with the official GTA Online since it already offers quiet a lot.

I can respect that. The game as it is right now is a huge success and is filled with good content. I feel like I have had a hard time with the network performance with the game. Matchmaking also has me backing in and out of dead lobbies.
i can smell cease and desist letters from R* to these guys who are attempting that :)

That would be my concern as well(R* pulling a Ubisoft) but the GTA MP devs do not seem at all worried.
