Reduce desktop resolution to 1600x900 and run windowed borderless.
desktop size and position > scaling . set it to aspect ratio , and do scaling on gpu
Umm could you give me a little more instruction on exactly how to do this? I am using a Nvidia GPU so I have the nvidia control panel.
I just dont understand what my graphics card control panel is, and I dont know where to find the desktop size and position option.
click "adjust desktop size and position" on the left
now enable aspect ratio scaling and perform scaling on GPU.
That should do it.
I promise I am not trying to be thick or anything, but I dont see that option, here is what I see at my nvidia control panel.

I dont see an option for desktop size and position. I am using a gaming laptop that also has a dedicated intel HD card, but I use the Nvidia 680m 4gb GPU for gaming. and as of yesterday I was able to run the game in 1600x900 windowed and then I could alt+enter and it would go to full screen in 1600x900
And, if the options are not there for NVidia control panel, I think it might be possible that this could be done via Intel control panel. Run the game in fullscreen, set the desired resolution, alt+tab out of it, ctr+alt+F11, change it to stretch or whatever and try going back into the application. Maybe it'll work, who knows :)
Or just go to the startmenu and type nvidia in the search field.
Then do the steps I mentioned.
I didn't see the image you uploaded before now, sorry.
On a stationary there are loads more options on the control panel.
I'd recommend doing a google search on your speciffic laptop and check
what resolutions it supports and if there are any other people with similar issues.
Sorry I couldn't be of any help.
Good luck.
