i wonder whoever got this card how much fps you have and with what settings?

I see you are playing with nice and smooth 60 fps!!My problem is i have fx 8350 xfx r9 280x and 8gb ram with some settings at very high (not even ultra) and with 768p monitor my fps are going down to 40-30..This is normal for my gpu or its just the game?

Almost everytime 60 fps, sometimes it drops slightly (during chases for example)

I have the same card, non-overclocked. Every setting maxed except grass and soft shadows, which I run at very high and softest respectively. I use long shadows (no performance hit) and extended shadow distance (again, no hit). I limit my FPS to 50, but I'm fairly confident I'd get up to 60 in the city. 40-45ish in the mountains and countryside because I have grass at very high. Yes, grass is an FPS killer.

Oh, and no MSAA. FXAA looks fantastic in this game anyway, so I don't miss not having MSAA.

Ths game is very well optimized. my brother run it on R9 270X high-very High (1080p) with decant FPS.

OP wich drivers are you using? use the beta http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx
i had huge performance improvement with that
280x very high 1080p 50fps average

Oh yeah, it's worth noting that I'm not using the beta AMD drivers, but the latest stable ones instead. I've heard the beta improves performance substantially, but I'm happy enough with what I'm getting.

I have FX-8350 R9 280X and 8gb ram and my game is not even at max settings and i have like 50-40 and sometimes 30 especialy when im driving..This is normal?This card is suposed to play this game at ultra with no fps drops

First, make sure you're either running the latest stable or beta AMD drivers. Second, here are this game's killers for this card: AMD Shadows, Grass at any setting above Normal, High Detailed Shadows, Extended View Distance, and MSAA. Everything else is okay to enable or max out.

If your card is overclocked, you could probably enable AMD Shadows safely, I'd wager.

Set Shader quality, Post FX quality, Grass quality and Shadow quality "only" at HIGH and see if it helps.

Check how much % CPU the game is using. It shouldn't really be more than 90%. If it is topping out at 100%, that is your problem. The game has some CPU load bugs, the first one with the Launcher was fixed but Self Radio is still bugged. Make sure you are idling at 5% CPU load or less before launching the game also. You could have something else eating up CPU, and GTA currently needs all of it. Resource Monitor will show you what is using CPU resources.

Its using 60-70% of my cpu and it has so much drops!!I dont have anything open on the background only steam.
