Is GTA V better optimized for AMD or NVIDIA cards??

as my gtx 580 seems that died before 3 weeks and the main reason to buy new card is the GTA V i want to know what is better to buy , amd or nvidia ... i speak for cards that costs arouind 200 euros like gtx 960 , r9 280 , r9 85 , r9 280x etc.. what is the performance ou get (settings , frames etc) in your PC..?

Better for Nvidia.. As always when Nvidia is involved with the developement of a game. For them its less about delivering good performance on their own products than to cripple the performance of AMD products. Im running an 7970GHz (~as powerful as a 280x, a little less maybe) and Im struggling to get a fluid 50 at all times in multiplayer on v.high without advanced settings, whereas equally powerful cards from Nvidia easily achieve a stable 60 in 1080p. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying to be honest.

I've got AMD Radeon R9 270X and when I could actually get into the game it ran perfectly with nearly everything on Very High. ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT is all I get now.

The 290x is cheaper and faster than the gtx 970 for this game in certain curcumtances

look online at benchmark results from what i've seen the GTX 970 is easily the best bang for buck theres faster but you'll pay for it

That said the 970 seems to get higher low fps and lower highs and is a smoother ride, all the time using less electricity so longer term upfront cost means little


I'd still choose the 970 if I was buying now (but i already bough the 980 on a spending spree :P)

I think for some games both brands will do their very best being 'optimised'. I think GTAV is one of them. Both brands came up with hot fix drivers very soon. I mean, AMD last official driver goes for soo long now and is very stable in all my games, but this fix made the game run even better for me, flawless on HD7970.

I suppose mantle was envolved and the same can be told about nvidia variant. Having AMD means i don't have nvidia so there is not much room for comparison. And i rly rly believe you should follow your own instincts.

i have a R290x, no problem so far games runs and runs... not a single crash, not a single stutter..
i don't know if it runs better on nvidia ... i have nothing to complain though ;)

[Win7x64/HD 7950] I'm running GTA 5 on the AMD 13.4 drivers which are pretty old. I'd say it's pretty well optimized on AMD but the newer drivers can't both run post-processing on a "Very high" setting and MSAA without having a blurry box in the bottom right corner.

i dont use used product man , but only new one.. i know 280x must be 10-15% better from r9 280 , r9 285, gtx 960 2gb.. i wish to fix my gtx 580 that i believe can run the game good enough.. 1080 reso here i dont worry about ultra settings i dont want to play the games in low and overall i want 60 fps stable if it is possible..with medium to high custom settings would be satisfied.. now i am using my old gtx 550ti 1gb what do you believe?? can this card run decently GTA V?? if i overclock it will i get any advantage??

ok guys i speak for cards that costs around 200-250 euros.. not beast like r9 290 , gtx 970 etc

does it crash 10 -15 minutes playing? i had that.. it turned out it wasnt the gc for me.. it was my CPU.. i had to un-overclock it..

280x here. running great, no problems!
