You need to activate it on Rockstar social club, unless you run warez.

I did the day I bought it but now it doesn't work anymore. And some wonder why honest people go pirate. Sweet Jesus.

Maybe you bought the game with a stolen credit card.

Go to Users/YourPCName/Documents/Rockstar Games/ and remove Social Club folder
Try launching again via Steam and re-login with your account, where GTA V is activated.

Thanks but it didn't work. Reinstalled Rockstar SC. It launches when I'm online but the game never start. Keep saying "loading story" forever.

I never play or buy anything with a DRM that requires constant internet access but GTA V worked just fine offline a few hours ago. Not anymore. Says "Activation required" if I try to start in offline mode.

This may actually be the first time I will press for a refund. Paying full price for something that works for two days. Nobody should accept that from a AAA studio such as Rockstar.

They make millions on this and still can't bother to test a patch properly before pushing it out. What a disgrace.
Sorry but there over 80% players that are playing well. There are less people claiming in this forum about their issues.

I'm having the same exact issue - been playing the game the past few days and now it's asking me to reactive, only it's NOT ACCEPTING MY CD KEY THAT I PURCHASED AN HAVE BEEN USING. This is very frustrating - the game crashes and freezes all the time already, the stock market has been very buggy, now this. Sheesh.

Yeah, i've had it 3 times already. One day it works like a charm, next day it stuck 'error trying to activate' thingy.
I've relogin the steam, restart the PC, deleted social club folder in document, verify the cache, NOTHING WORKS.

I preordered this game and now i got 50-50 chance whether i will be able play it or not. WTF.
Btw, the game works smoothly few hours ago and yesterday, no error whatsoever. Great game stupid drm.

Ok, this morning it works again WTF

Well I got it running but I keep getting this activation BS occasionally. Apparently Rockstar social club is messing up Steam Offline mode >.<

Not sure where your getting your numbers Bordo but a simple search will reveal a hell of a lot of problems with this game. I am also having activation error after already activating this game. I am at the same frustration level as Joogrr

You can copy his Steam version over if you want to. Just verify cache and create your own Social account.

Don't hijack threads in the future and start your own.
