Nervous Ron glitch
So this quest is bugged for me. It progresses up to the point where Ron tells me to take out the guard at the bottom of the steps. After I do that, nothing happens. No more dialogue. After a few moments the music cuts out, but sound effects still work. I can still move and shoot normally, but if I leave the quest area the mission fails and the screen goes black. If i hit enter or A on the gamepad I'll get the loading icon, but it loads infinitely. I can shoot out the lights but that doesn't trigger anything either.

AMD FX-4100 3.6 GHz quad-core
16 GB RAM
R9 290
Windows 7 64-bit

I've found a few people with similar problems, but they found their problem had to do with NVidia Surround, which I don't have. I already put in a ticket with Rockstar but it seems they're pretty backed up on that front.

Thanks!

You could try to shoot the guy and the lights around him before ron tells you to. Thats what i did after knowing the mission from playing on console. Didnt crash or bug out, just a suggestion.

Funnily enough, originally my problem was that I didn't get any dialogue whatsoever after Ron asks if you can see him, not even Trevor's response. He still moved into position, though. And then I just shot the guy and the lights, but nothing. I had some old Nvidia drivers from my last GPU, so I used DDU to get rid of them, and that got me a few more lines of dialogue, but still wouldn't go past the same part.

Maybe its a memory problem. Have you tried restarting the game and trying the mission? Ive monitored the memory while playing and noticed it creep up. Im guessing the game keeps newly loaded models in memory maybe audio too.

Oh, I have to use the task manager to close the game every time I attempt this mission. I've restarted the game and tried it about 7 or 8 times now. Tried putting it in windowed mode just for the hell of it. No change. Next thing I'll do is try going from an earlier save.

Jeez, sad to hear all these problems people are having. Im sure Rock$tar is on it though. I mean they managed to push a patch out in 3 days, which is pretty amazing given the scope of this game.

It was running soooo beautifully up to this point too. :( At least I can still go online, though.

Yeah, really sucks. Youd be stuck with trevor only at that point in the game if you just wanna goof around in SP. If you have an earlier save, you should def give it a try.

So I tried the only earlier save I had, (which was really only one story mission before) but still got the same result.

Tried running it in windowed and borderless windowed mode to see if either of those would work, made no difference.

Downloaded and installed the new AMD beta drivers 15.4 and now the dialogue is cutting out slightly earlier.

...help?

I have an issue with the mission where the game crashes after we fly over the second bridge. Submitted a ticket 2 days ago but have heard nothing back.

Actually, I found a fix! I used a checksum utility to check all the .rpf files in the Grand Theft Auto V folder (x64a-w) and found one that didn't match. Then I just deleted it and next time I booted up the game the proper file downloaded and all was well. Here's a video explaining the whole thing.

how is this different than verifying integrity of the game cache via steam?

I don't have it on Steam. Got it through rockstar. I just posted here hoping someone had worked through the same problem.
