Rockstar please fix it / thumbstick sensitivity during driving is set too high
I have played gta5 on consoles before, x360, PS3, PS4 and now PC version. The thing is thumbstick sensitivity during driving on PC is different compared to console versions.

I'm using Xbox360 gamepad on PC, and thumbsticks sensitivity during car driving is set way too high. One small thumbstick movement and cars on PC version are already turning fast (it's easy to crash into something because of that). That's now how it looked like on x360, PS3, and PS4 :(. On xbox 360 console (and the same gamepad) thumbstick sensitivity during driving is lower and on top of that when you are not pushing accelerate button sensitivity is EVEN lower, so it's EASY to manuver. Rockstar please fix this issue on PC version, because it's clearly not how it should look like.

I tried playing in keyboard and mouse, it's much better, but I would want to play this game on my x360 gamepad, and without proper thumbsticks sensitivity is hard to play that way :(

Seems perfect for me I use the 360pad for almost everything apart from shooting, does changing the sensivity alter the handling maybe? I didn't look to much into it.

sickbullet@ Of course you can play this game with gamepad, but I played gta5 on ps3, and trust me, thumbstick sensitivity was totally different.

I absolutely agree, it'd be REALLY nice to have an option to adjust JUST the steering analog sensitivity. Seems like a huge oversight on Rockstar's part to me.

Let's hope they will include options for car steering sensitivity, it should be very simple to implement and it will improve gameplay for a lot of people. Right now I prefer to play ps3 version because of that gamepad thing :(, ps3 thumbstick sensitivity is much better.

Maybe you are just use to that 20-30 FPS. Feels great for me.

No, it's not about 20-30fps. On PC version thumbstick deadzone is noticeable smaller and sensitivity much greater compared to ps3 version. Even on 60fps there's no precision during car driving compared to ps3 version.

Sorry to bump this a year later but, I come from a similar background as the poster. The PC controller settings are ♥♥♥♥, using the exact same pad I used on consoles, feels nothing like it (PC worse, big deadzones, no linearity for small turns and too damn twitchy). Several updates later no Rockstar updates towards steering sensitivity or left stick deadzone (i mean wtf, those are basics for a controller supported game!)

I fixed this myself using a program called x360ce. Note this fix only works for Xbox One controllers (only because it has 2x dedicated trigger axis, the 360 only has 1x meaning you would not get left and right trigger support simultaenously.....e.g. holding left trigger and pressing right to shoot would not work with this software on a 360, single axis pad).

The software allows you to add "anti-deadzone" (i found 19-21% seems to be on the money, thats a big deadzone that I'm removing rockstar!!!) and make the sticks less sensitive in the central xxx% (I usually make it less sensitive for the first 60% of stick movement, and the last 40% will build up sensitivity for quick turning). Hope someone finds this of use, I know it p***** me off to no end because I hated driving on PC with controller, and I used to get a real enjoyment on the console, despite the FPS, it was just a damn better experience especially racing.

There is an alternative to x360ce for those of you who own a 360 pad. It has less features but it can remove deadzones and add linearity (finer movement). Its called Durazno (xinput wrapper). Just tweak the software to your liking, and copy the durazno files and xinput to your gta5.exe location. Done.

Flying has been a nightmare for the most part until I calibrated my controller in windows. Driving was difficult but managable. I'm much happier with the sensitivity now. I don't think any of the sensitivity settings in the game work for me. I have not adjusted them much due to switching to kb+mouse for shooting. Looked at some of the controller software I could use but figured it was a hassle. For the most part I'm happy with the results of simply calibrating the controller via windows.

I ain't sorry bumping this - the game, I'd have refunded if I'd not left it logged on whilst hunting the living hell out of this nasty nasty issue.

It looks like players are in two camps. One lot has zero issue, their installation does not have twitchy ass horrible unplayable steering and they have a great game.

Others, like me, are screwed royally and will never be able to enjoy the game at all as a result. So pissed with those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who put a patch out there that did that.

Is there no fix that doesn't require a lot of complicated and not undertandable modding?

The issue is real, however most people here probably only played PC version, therefore they cant see what they are missing.
