GTA V made everything on my PC worse
So after I downloaded it, I've got:

Freezes: Extremely common now, it takes 5 mins now to open Skype or Steam, or even to respond to messages.

It never shuts down properly: Either it takes 10 mins to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ load Online or Story mode, and it takes 5 mins of black screen and extremely slow loading speeds and freezing to shut down.

Webhelper crashes: Basically this makes my entire game blackscreen and freeze for 5 mins and I can't do anything, until I have to wait another 10 mins to recover from the game having 1 fps and freezing.

Low fps on other games: Games that should be getting 60 fps are now getting 30 fps. Also freezing and lots of frame drop.

Everything takes longer to load: It's what it says on the tin. Everything on my PC has slowed. I have freed up space by uninstalling other games, but it's ruining everything.

Basically when I play other games or do other things it feels like I still have GTA V in the background. It's slow, painfully low FPS (even on lowest settings) and makes my overall PC performance worse than before.

Like loading Chrome for example. Last time it would load in seconds, now it takes at least 30 seconds to load. Steam ingame browser has reached an all time low loading speed. Last time it would take 10 seconds, now it can take up to 30.

So yeah, what can I do about this? Yes I have updated my drivers before playing GTA V and I have optimized it with Nvidia GeForce Experience. I need a serious solution because this is really messing my PC up.

Specs:

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 920 Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Memory: 5120MB RAM
Page file: 2911MB used, 7323MB available

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 (only like 5 months old, bought it brand new)

294 GB free out of 931 GB.

I have 2 hard drives, C and D. All my games are stored on D (only about 20 installed atm) and the rest of the PC stuff is on C.

have u tried removing GTA? Sounds like you have very little space. Also if everything is stored on the same drive as windows its gonna cause slow downs. Maybe upgrade to SSD.

I don't want to delete it, redownload 80 gb of game files and replay the campaign again.

Considering the only time anything related to GTA V is running, is when the game is running. It is not GTA V that is causing your computer to be slow.

It's only started being slow after I downloaded GTA V.

You probably stressed that garbage PC of yours trying to run the game higher than you could.

Have you tried restarting your computer? If there is a memory leak in GTA then your whole computer will lag till it's refreshed by restart.

The only thing it could be then is the space it is taking up on your hard drive since the game itself is not running anything while you're not playing it.

Make sure to defrag your computer too, the download and install fragments like hell as any large install would.

....So? It runs the game fine. It's just that outside of the game it's slow as hell.

I've run worse games than this. So no, I don't think it's garbage and I don't think I've stressed it by running a game higher than I could.

Tried it. Didn't change anything.
