Grand Theft Auto V Legacy

Grand Theft Auto V Legacy

ERR GFX D3D INIT error?
Ive been playing GTA Online. Ive been repeatedly getting crashes when im in a mission, heist, race, etc.
My rig is mid to high end, and I even set the graphics to modest levels, but I cant seem to isolate the issue, besides the possible issues with other players... it always happens when in a game with others or when everyone on the free mode map is nearby. One time when it was just me and one other guy, right before one crash my teammate was complaining about high ping. It seems to occur when Im around other players; is my game becoming 'overloaded' with info somehow? I cant think of what else it might be.

possible solution.
I've had this error as well and could not even play for more than 1 second in normal mode (safe mode for ca. 3 min where video memory usage increased steadily until crash). I was running SMSC Core graphics software which came with the Samsung monitor (C27B750) I'm using. After removing this program can play with no issues whatsoever (3 sessions , 8 hours total gameplay).

If you have a monitor that uses similar drivers, this might do the trick as well.
I HAVE UPLOADED SOME FIXES.HOPE WORK FOR EVERYONE CHECK THEM ALL.

[Solved for me]

I tried all the fixes to no avail.

Then I noticed it works fine in Safe Mode, so I put all settings on Low and off and started maxing them out one by one to find out which one was the culprit. Turns out it was the Water Quality setting - once I switched it to Normal the glitch was gone, with all the other settings maxed out, playing in 4k.

Give it a try, hopefully it will fix it for you as well.
steam does not like compatibility modes.
install as admin , then you won't need checkboxes for admin.
install third party below as admin too
(right click mouse on setup then run as admin)

if recently changed graphics card settings or driver,
a D3D error might happen once with game editing the settings.xml in documents/ Rockstar Games /GTA V.
try again game and see if error continues.

IF steam version, Install oly the visuals and directx

Rockstar Social Club setup installer, is in Steam / game properties / local files / installers

launch commands for steam game launch commands.
For no steam game, make text file and save as commandline.txt.
put launch commands in it.
if steam game, need to use steam launcher, game properties, start options.

you can select directx at graphic menu settings too in game, if not work then you can force with launch commands.
(use 1 space in front of - )
example
-DX10
(Force Directx 10.0 feature set)
-DX10_1
(Force Directx 10.1 feature set)
-DX11
(Force Directx 11.0 feature set)

for example steam game (if bad connection with update patch)
verify game cache.
-noChunkedDownload
(Forces patches to be downloaded all at once instead of in chunks)

for non steam (at shortcut or commandline.txt)
-verify -noChunkedDownload

-ignoreDifferentVideoCard
=Don't reset settings with a new card

I get this error whenever I try to overclock my GTX 970 with msi afterburner even a little bit.

Remove OC and all OC software and see if that helps, hope you get playing smoothly soon.

It sucks because GTA V is the only game that crashes when I overclock my gpu and there shouldn't be an issue overclocking a small amount unless there's a memory leak or something which is probably the case with GTA V.
i also have MSAA OFF ingame, and override anti aliasing via nvidia driver Inspector.

4xS [Combined: 1x2 SS + 2x MS (D3D only)]
can use others , but i like this one for my GTX 780's.
no Transparency enabled
FXAA by Nvidia predifined "disallowed"

my launch command example:

just an Example of my launch command , use your own settings for your system

the -ignoreDifferentVideoCard was placed by Rockstar in My GTA V folder once.
but steam GTA V ignores commandline.txt, need launch commands in steam.

-adapter 0 -ignoreDifferentVideoCard -noChunkedDownload -uilanguage american -fullscreen -disallowResizeWindow -width 2560 -height 1440 -postFX 0

-adapter 0 is my first GTX 780 for the main screen
resolution is 2560x1440 example.

make sure PCI-E in bios , not IGPU (if graphics card)

Windows 10 WDDM 2.0 for DX11.3, 12
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn932167(v=vs.85).aspx
kepler cards and up i believe

my WDDM in dxdiag (type in runscreen dxdiag )says 2.1
I have found a solution,

Go to steam library.
Right click on Grand Theft Auto 5 and click properties.
Go to "Local Files" tab.
Click "Verify Integrity Of Game Files"
Let it search through the game files.
After it is done, it will add all missing files and replace the corrupt ones (if any)

I hope this has helped.
Hello, I want to inform you that this problem of the ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT that has driven me crazy for so long since I bought the game, finally resolved by updating my graphic card for a new one (from an NVIDIA GTX 650 Ti to an NVIDIA Aorus 1070). I would like this case to enter database to help solve this problem without doing as much puzzle as I had to do to my testing all the solutions that appeared in forums sending one and a thousand times DxDiag and MSinfo to support, etc, all this due to that being that apparently to me when it seemed that the graphic board resisted the game well but every time it surpassed a bit its limit ended up generating that failure ruining a lot of games and missions with that bottleneck. In this way I have been playing the GTAV for more than a month in ultra without that error appears which appeared at least once every 2 or 3 hours average. The problem has been that the minimum requirements for the game are not those that officially say they should be, they have not updated them. Greetings and good luck.
I reinstalled the game ,tried dx setup ,still crashes
Hello! I know that it has been long time since last post was published here, but the problem is still common, so maybe at least some of you will find salvation with my method.

I was fighting this problem for about a year and found a solution by coincidence. Probably at least some of you are playing GTA V on a laptop with dual graphic cards. In my example these are integrated Intel UHD 620 and dedicated Radeon 530.

The D3D INIT error used to appear randomly - sometimes just after starting the game, sometimes after half an hour. First I was suspicious about the condition of dedicated Radeon card - I'm using a Dell Inspiron 5570, which is widely known for its extremely poor thermal design (both the processor and dedicated graphic card are attached to common heatsink, which results in mutual boiling of these chipsets), but during service tests there were no signs of any damage to the card.

Fighting another graphics issue in another game, which was running on Intel UHD 620 by deafult, the solution was to force it to be running on Radeon 530. This can be done through going to Graphic Settings (in Win10 Settings->System->Display), browsing for the application and setting it to be running in high performance.

Because this solved the issue with this another game, I thought that this might be the right thing to do with GTA V.

And it worked! When I forced the system to use only the Radeon card when the game is running, there was no crash of the game for 4 hours of playing non stop and nothing indicates that it will ever happen again.

So, it looks like the system, whenever the GTA V is running, tries to lower the power consumption by switching to Intel card (what is important, in MSI Afterburner both cards indicated raised temperature). This strange behaviour with two graphic cards working results in recurrent interruptions in generating image for screen, which finally leads to game crashing.

It looks that the same problem interrupts graphics in other games, like The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. In that game the screen is often blinking, becoming black, then showing the desktop for a short while and then generating the game view again. The only difference is that here the games does not freeze because of the error. Forcing to use the Radeon card in this game also solved the issue.

So, for those, for whom this was tl;dr, if you are using a computer with doubled graphic cards (integrated and dedicated) try these steps:
1. In Windows, go to Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphic Settings;
2. In Graphic Settings, browse for GTA5.exe (for steam version, it's in folder \steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\) and click "Add";
3. Click on the Grand Theft Auto V icon and click "Options";
4. In the Options window, choose "High performance" and save it.

And that's it. Now the game will run only on the dedicated graphics card, which should solve the problem of appearing ERR GFX D3D INIT.
