Games keeps locking to 30 fps
I have a 970 so I shouldn't be getting 30 fps locks occasionally when I'm not even using max settings. Rockstar is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad at making games for the pc.

Go into NVIDIA Control Panel, go to 3d settings, add gta v program then go to triple buffering then put it to on
Isn't it locked at 30 for online?

Disable Vsync in game and force Adaptive Vsync through your nvidia control panel. Has nothing to do with Rockstar being bad with PC's it's just how Vsync works....

Make sure that Vsync isn't on half. Half locks your fps at 30 i believe. Turning V sync locks it at 60 and off turns it off.

Bad at making games? I have a decent rig and am getting 60+ you kids just have ♥♥♥♥ rigs and always play the blame game. lmfao

And if you are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid to not turn V-sync off you should just go back to console.

There is a bug in the game. The Vsync cuts in half. I just go to graphic settings and change the Vsync to 30hz and apply, then back to 60hz and apply. Fixes it for me everytime and I get 60 fps again without having to restart the game.

lol oh god not this again. triple buffering from the cp has no impact on DX games.

If I turn Vsync off I get screen tearing. I need Vsync :(

He said it was occasionally, not constantly. Normal Vsync @ 60hz will give you 60fps when you can get it, if not it will drop it to 30fps, then once 60fps is achievable again it will go back to 60fps.

Adaptive Vsync works differently in that it generaly only caps on the top end @ 60fps but will allow you to go below it w/o halving it to 30fps as soon as you drop below that threshold.

I play this on a laptop... and not even one that's a "gaming laptop"... and the game runs beautifully... so I don't know what sort of machines the people who are complaining about performance must be playing this game on... a Gameboy?

I have the same issue as OP. I can get much more than 60 fps but the game will occasionally cap it at 30. It never goes back to 60 unless I make it do so by either doing what I said in my earlier post or by restarting the game. If it dropped to 30 becasue 60 is unachieveable then it wouldn't fix it for me by resetting the Vsync option, but it does fix it for me, without me moving anywhere.

DONT put adaptive on.......... Turn V sync on IN GAME, and turn TRIPLE BUFFERING ON IN YOUR CARD SETTINGS( Nvidia control panel). If you get wierd frame drops, alt tab out, then go back in, simple. OH AND THE MOST IMPORTANT..... CLEAN THE REGISTRY GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO IT WITH CCleaner AND CLEAN EVERYTHING! DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LISTEN IF YOU WANT MAX EVERYTHING!

If you are on nvidia hardware GTX 6xx or newer I believe, you should be able to use Adaptive Vsync, if that is the case, just disable Vsync in game and force Adaptive to ON in nvidia control panel, worked fine for me on my GTX 680 and now again on my GTX970.
