CD key invalid, GTA V, digital copy

I just bought this game on steam

And the CD key/Activation code that comes with the game doesn't work

It says the CD key is already been use on another steam account, but I only have one account.

I already contact the steam support and their reply was very disappointing

Anyone can give me tips for this kind of situation?

How to do that? Cause I can't find a refund bottom anywhere near my purchase history.

Keep trying with steam support, until you get a live person that is. just be polite and reasonable with it.

That's unfortunate, sorry to hear that. You'd do best if you contacted Rockstar support as well, as they should be more competent to deal with this situation.

Probably the only tip left is that you're gonna need some patience, it takes a considerable amount of time for Rockstar support to write back. This applies to Steam too, Steam's support is even worse in this matter (Steam support usually gets back to me in a week or more)

Or, if your account was the one that made the actual purchase of GTA 5 (meaning - you didn't get it in a trade or in a gift) you could take advantage of the fact that, because of some other problems with GTA 5, Steam allowed users to refund the game with a simple click of a button - click on your Steam username (upper right corner) -> account details -> purchase history (or something like that) -> find GTA 5 there and refund it. All the money will be refunded to your instantly and you could just buy another copy with its own CD-key. But maybe this applies only to pre-purchases, I honestly don't know :/

I don't have the actual copy of the game, I downloaded from steam.

I had the same problem as well. I got no help from Rockstar so I hit the refund button on Steam and got my money back.

Although I may have given it one more shot if I were you, if you buy it again, a new CD-key would be given to you. It's a great game and you can still always refund it if you won't like it or run into some other problems. If you already downloaded the game and didn't uninstall it yet, the files should still be there and you wouldn't have to download it again.
But that's just me, it's none of my business really, whatever floats your boat :)

Nahh I think I would rather get the copy illegally instead, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ customer support doesn't worth it.
Besides, the CD key/activation code doesn't work that could means steam has a really serious internal security issue. If you know what I mean.

My key was valid, but they wanted me to enter it again and when I did it said "key already in use" and wouldn't let me play the game. So for me, I'm not trying that again until they get the game right.
