Freezing during second mission (first Franklin mission)
Hey guys,

I'm well aware of the array of issues this game has had right off the bat.

My game downloaded and installed fine, and I can load it up totally fine. I played the initial bank mission without any hiccups, though once I got into the second mission to play as Franklin and steal the cars, my game freezes at about the same point every single time. I've tried turning my graphics settings right down, but no luck.

I highly doubt it's my hardware, I have a nice enough rig:
GTX 770
16GB RAM
Quad core i5's - 2.5k @ 3.30GHz (Yes, I'm thinking of upgrading soon)

I've searched around to see if I can fix this myself, though nothing has come up fruitful. I checked my .rpf files as some have suggested, and I did find that my x64b.rpf did not match, though when Steam re-downloads this file, it doesn't match once again.

Is the .rpf file my issue here? If so, how do I fix this if Steam won't download the correct file?

Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers!

EDITS:

- Tried turning off autosave
- Deleted old game file. Played out first mission fine again, no problems. Froze again on second mission in the same place (or thereabouts)

Finally got passed it. Turned off the autosave once the mission began. Good luck.

I will give that a go, cheers!

EDIT: No luck with that one :(

Thought i was the only one. When i first got this game it kept crashing during the race with lamar. Started GTAO with no problems so far and got back to the story mode. I could progress till the first mission with chop and now it keeps crashing again. Are you able to play GTAO? Cause it works perfectly fine for me except the singleplayer. When the game crashes, do you get thrown back to the desktop with the Social Club notification "You have been logged out because your account is logged in somewhere else"?

Guys, this is also the problem with the RAM leaking, I had the same problem, It is because the first mission is generated in "smaller world" and does not require so many processes to generate. GTA V has a very big problem with RAM processing. There is big commotion about this problem. I wrote the ticket to R* about this and thay said that they are working on this problem right now and it will be fixed any time soon. So all we can do right now is wait.

I did a fresh installation of Windows on my PC a few days after my last post, that sorted the problem. I'm not sure what was going on, perhaps it was memory leaking? Regardless, I don't have this problem any more.

I'm not suggesting a fresh installation of Windows is necessary, it's just what worked for me (wanted to do it anyway).

I've been told by friends that anti-virus programs could be a possible cause. if you have a few of them, unisntall them one by one to see if that helps.

Fingers crossed you can play soon, Dreirad.

It's not only that mission, it will be forever in the game after like 30minutes of playing or so.

In your case 16GB ram, well, just another case that proves it¡s rockstar fault with memory management the game provokes.

I only have avast premium installed. Im going to disable it to see if it works. The strange thing is that i can play GTAO without any issues. Some other guy told me to turn on "ignore suggested limits". I thought that it would fix the problem cause i was able to play like 15 min. straight untill it crashes again. Usually it crashes within 5 min. I dont think my memory is leaking cause the game would become choppy and laggy over time but it just crashes randomly (also checked my ram usage with msi afterburner). I think im going to wait for another patch and play GTA online in the meantime since downloading the game took me like 2-3 days.

Edit: Tried disabling Avast without any success. Thanks anyways though.

Is there any information about when the next patch is going to be released?

I doubt it was the game. The fresh installation of Windows cleared it up - I never reinstalled the game or touched its files.

I haven't heard anything I'm afraid.

Finally fixed that issue. Did not know that you can verify your game files even though you have the non steam version. Now it is running perfectly fine without any crashes and freezes in both story and online mode. I am ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ happy right now.

Hi, putting back up this 3D, I had exactly same issue and as well fixed verifying games files. Thank you for the hint!
