Custom tracks volume far too low :(? Can anyone help?
Hello,

I remember back in the day when I was using the custom radio feature in GTA IV no matter which music files I used, all songs were terribly low volume-wise when compared to the in-game radio songs. I wasn't able to fix it to this day.

Yesterday I've put some custom tracks into GTA V folder and I'm getting the same issue. All custom tracks volume is so low when compared to the official in-game radio stations songs that I can barely hear them.

I've tried leaving only 2 songs in the custom tracks folder after raising their dB levels in a music mixing/mastering program and while I can hear that they are significantly louder when simply listening to them, in-game they're nearly silent :/.
I've also tried quick scan, full scan & auto scan options in the game but non of them made any difference.

Anyone experienced a similar problem and possibly found a solution?
I haven't found any fix for it in GTA IV to this day either.

Try running MP3Gain on your music folder to make all the songs the same volume (gain). You can choose how loud to make them. This is a free open source program.

I too noticed custom tracks were quieter than the rest of the music.

Thanks for this, but if you'd read my 1st post in here you'd see that I already tried this. I'm quoting myself:
"I've tried leaving only 2 songs in the custom tracks folder after raising their dB levels in a music mixing/mastering program and while I can hear that they are significantly louder when simply listening to them, in-game they're nearly silent :/.".

That's my whole point. It was the same way for me in GTA IV and to this day I didn't found a fix for it.

I read it which is why I recommended this software that sets the GAIN metadata tag in your MP3s instead of modifying the waveform data directly. Some MP3 players normalize the waveform data but still take instructions from the GAIN tag to help equalize the loudness.

I hope this works for you. It's a weird issue.

I don't suppose you have a 5.1 surround speaker setup?

I'm using Microlab M-700 speakers.
PS. I'm just giving MP3gain a try. I'll get back in few minutes after checking it.

You're not using surround sound so it's not your speakers. It's the game. Try my suggestion about changing the gain of your songs. If that doesn't work then we'll have to wait for R* to fix this.

Demodulated, thank you very much man :D!
After raising the dB levels of all songs to 100, they are finally as loud as the in-game songs.

Fantastic!! I'm very glad this worked for you. What kinds of music did you add to the game? I haven't done it since San Andreas but I added drum & bass and some Joy Division - driving music.

Well, I'm a rock singer myself with a wide range of musical tastes so I've added my all time favorites like: Motorhead, Heart, Godsmack, Black Stone Cherry, Danzig, Quiet Riot, The Doors, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash etc. ;).

Nice! You must have loved the rock station in GTA4 The Lost and Damned.

Happy trails!
