Missing files?
I have the Launcher crash problem, but I noticed that the file playGTAV.exe is missing. I Googled it and looks like many people who downloaded the game from Steam having the same problem, they say they missing the playGTAV.exe file or the GTA5.exe file.

Since I tried EVERYTHING (except the shady shared files on Asian servers and such), but the game is still crashing, I'm starting to think that the missing playGTAV.exe causes the problem.

- I installed the latest ATI driver
- I installed all the Win updates
- I tried that CMD command thing
- I turned off all the anti-virus programs and unnecessary programs (printer, webcam, etc)
- I re-checked the files with Steam
- Tried the turn-off video card trick (even though It workes only with NVidia)
- Installed/Reinstalled Social Club (I don't even know if that thing is necessary if the game is purcased through Steam)

So I tried everything, but nothing worked.

Is that possible that the missing playGTAV.exe file is the problem? How do I get the file from Steam? Or from Rockstar? (I don't want to download it from suspicious websites.)

dont download anything, wait for a fix and when the fix is out all you have to do is to verify the game cache Rockstar is a ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ company... oddly not worse than ubisoft tho

I wouldn't download files from weird sites, I just wondering if the missing file is the problem and if it is, then how I'm gonna get the files. Not sure if Rockstar/Steam aware of the problem. I did see many people on forums complaining about the missing files though.

I think my computer can't be the problem, it's good enough:

Intel i5-3570K 3.4GHz
8 GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 7800 series

Is there any way to contact Steam about the missing files? If that's the problem, then it's more like a Steam issue, not Rockstar issue.

I sent a message to the Steam support like 3 hours ago. I got no reply yet, though.

I have the same problem. I tried to download the playGTAV.exe , but all it did was make the GTA launch logo pop up, and then disappear. Here's the link if you want to try though.

I got it from here:

Thank you I'll check these out.

Is there any lists of how many files the GTA 5 has, what are the file names and what's their sizes?

Checking the list would help to see what files are missing exactly.

I did see the support page before, there is no solution for the problem there.

I wouldn't download any files from unknown servers. I'm thinking of an official solution, like people can I download the file from Steam. I mean they should give the file(s) to me, I paid $60 for the game. If a file is missing, they should let me download the missing ones.

Downloaded it, did a massive virus search on it. It was clean. But the same happened as you said. GTA launch logo, then it tried to load the Launcher exe file and that one is crashed again like always. :-( So it's not the missing file, it's something else.
