How to play with Friends?

Hi, i bought this game for online to play coop or pvp with friends. I already figured out how to meet them ingame and we are in the same crew. But how can i get jobs? I dont have any contacts in the phone which give me jobs. I dont know how to host a game and play it with friends i always get thrown into randomlobbys. How can i host one. How can i play with friends.

I picked up the PC version here on steam and I'm stuck too. Did the tutorial in single player, made an online character, added my friend, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to play alone with friends and not with a bunch of other ppl. I too was hoping for a private co-op type thing as I do not want my game play time invested in other people's time block when they just want to shoot each other. I rather enjoy this with no non-sense than have it delay my gaming time with a handful of people only. My job's list is also empty. Every time I connect it's just to a map full of even more people. Been trying to do this since yesterday. :/ if anyone with detailed instructions can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a good day.

On story mode Go online ~> Play GTA online ~> Creat invite only session and then invite your friend

Thank you, I will look for that setting now. :)

okay so you launch the game, while it's loading you select at the very bottom of the screen "storymode" then you load up. After you load into the game, you hit ESC, followed by play gta online. After all of this, you then click on friends list. After that find your friend or add them if you have none and already have someone to play with. Then click on that person and you will see another menu now yet again saying "send game invite". Then the person can connect over to you and you can begin playing.

What a mess that was. That should of been on the main menu with host game, invite friends, sort through steam friends list and be done with it. Exhausting, but thanks for pointing me into the correct direction.

*Keep in mind, after in game tutorial all your missions are unlocked however, not for GTA ONLINE. You will need to make a character and at the load screen hit ESC quickly and take the tutorial. Then work on getting to level 5 and doing what missions you can. Only then can you do co-op with friends having missions finally unlocked. Your friends will have to do the same thing. If they don't you can all still meet up but there won't be any jobs available for them. Really it will require 2 tutorials to be completed. The game is listed for multiplayer and single player only. They knew their co-op was weird but it is possible. Plenty of people on console did co-op too. :)
