I've had a quick look around on the Rockstar support knowledge base, but there's nothing that I can see that relates to this. Does anyone have any ideas?
I've also forwarded TCP & UDP ports 6672, 61455, 61457, 61456, and 61458 as instructed by this page https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200525767-GTA-Online-Connection-Troubleshooting, however I'm not putting my computer into the DMZ.
I changed the settings mainly to up the graphics quality and in the graphics settings it says if you alter them you may have connectivity issues (doesn't make sense, but it's a lead). The other thing I changed was the refresh rate to 119hz.
I have a Bigfoot Killer Networking card built into my motherboard.
I used DMZ and portforwarded all the ports and turned off my firewalls to test it. I could play with some others for about 10 minutes and then the problem reoccured.
I tried to change my graphics settings to default and that didn't worth either.
I tried lowering my MTU to 1473, then 1450, then 1427 and still didn't work.
I verified the game cache and everything is fine there.
My internet provider is Rogers, but everything else seems pretty good so I don't think it's them.
This all sounds very familiar. I suspect the problem is router based or something, but I am absolutely stumped as to what or how it comes about. I mean I've fiddled with everything I can fiddle with, and after that I tried to fix the router (heh), and no joy except, exactly as you say, a few minutes of apparent (though only partial) success.
Doing a factory settings revert on the router, going to start again.
No joy. Messing with the firewall settings some more now.
Nuclear option is a new router. :|
