the first-person walking mode is a lot faster than 3rd person

The speed at which you walk/run seems way faster in first person compared to 3rd. I love the first person mode but that massive difference in movement speed is really throwing me off.

I'm pretty sure it's because of the field of view.

It is true. The first person "walk" is the same speed as holding the sprint button in third person. Holding sprint in first person is the same as tapping sprint in third person.

that thought crossed my mind, but I looked down at the sidewalk and made a reference point, and absolutely traveled faster in first-mode than I did in third-person mode while walking. It really is a bit faster.

Ok. Well the thing is GTA IV and V use the natural motion engine to make ragdolls and actors walk and move more naturally, models properly touch the ground instead of looping animations that makes your feet fly or sink into the ground. Because of this, movement are more realistic and thus quite slower. It takes more time to rotate and strafe in a natural way not like counter strike and regular FPS ( except maybe Arma ). My guess would be they dumbed down the walking machanics to make it more comfortable in first person. If the camera was just stuck to your face first person would probably make you sick with all the head bobbing. But i can't really speak as i haven't tried it on PC just yet.

Its true, in first person it indeed walk faster. At the architect plans mission I was following the architect in constant speed walking, when switched to first person it walked like running LOL. Firstperson it is all bugged.

you walk 5 seconds faster in 1st person, than in 3rd person

Yeah I noticed this a long time ago, it helps with pacing.

I understand that this discussion is dead, but I'd wish to inform you that you're automatically jogging in first person as there is no jog button equipped. First person movement options include Jogging/Running, Third Person movement options include Walking/Jogging/Running. Sorry for bothering you, but I was urged to respond.

First person walking is definitely faster. It’s especially helpful while in the Nightclub or Diamond Casino since you walk so slow it 3rd person
