GTA V online server selection? Stuck with Chinese speakers.
So I just played my first experience of GTA V online and no offense intended, but all the players were from China. Is there a way to select a region I play in to play with more English speaking players?

P.s - Playing from Singapore

ANyone familiar with how GTA V online works to answer this? I know there's a ton of discussions popping, each with their own problems (and some just plain whining)

There's no region selcting sadly. You'll just have to wait until more people start playing online.

That's a shame as there's quite a number of people playing online on my end, just ...not English speaking. I liked how Titanfall did it in that my region was set to South East Asia by default for matchmaking but I could set it to other regions.

If you're located in Singapore "unfortunatly" you are located in Asia, and for latency purposes you are probably stuck forever in asian servers. Everybody hates lagging and laggers so i guess they won't let people change regions. I don't know what kind of ping you'd get if you tried joining australian, american or european servers.

There's probably a few english speakers, they're just not using microphones. Or they're in party chats/Teamspeak. It's also probably pairing you with people closer to your region. R* servers tend to do that.

Well, true but I've played other games in North American region with no to little issue with latency on my end and other opposing players.

As a Canadian working in SEA, it would be great for the selection, to play with my friends as well be it as it may.

Just an update, after further playing, and not to sound whiney but I cannot find a single person to do cooperative missions with, the folks don't talk and just run around shooting each other -.- This is why in my position, it would be great if I could choose regions.

I'd play some missions with you, but I don't have the game. People are probably just having fun murdering everything before they start grinding for money.

Yeah after more time on GTA V online, I've had a mix of Europeans, Americans alike. Guess it was just my initial first few hours. Still, wish there was a way to choose or tell your latency.

I've added you on Rockstar. My id is Nickobus.
I have the same problem where I just wanted to be in NA servers because most SEA servers have language barrier issues and its very hard to find a job. I was trying to seek contacts at nextgengta.com which is the youtube channel I actually follow though.

If your speakers were made in china then you have to buy speakers made in america to get english...j/k

ok all lame jokes aside. There should be an area in the menu(press ESC) under 'online' that allows you to find a 'new session'. Just do that until you get one you prefer for whaterver reason. Otherwise I would get onto the Social Club and ask there or find some sort of server pref. I would contact R* if the problem persists.
They should add an option which region will the player prefer to prevent any stupid language barrier, horrible ping or whatever reason it is.

I hate being stuck with Brazilians and Russians during Heist. They don't even bother typing in English.
