>>>> GTA V FIX COMPENDIUM --- (AMD/NVIDIA) (STICKY?)
Okay, in this post I will try to put all the fixes I've found while fiddling around with this game in the past three hours.

My system is as follows:

Case: Corsair 900D
PSU: Corsair AX1200i
Mobo: Asus X99-A
CPU: Intel Core i7 5930K @4.8GHz
RAM: G-Skill Ripjaws4 16GB DDR4
VGA: Sapphire Radeon R9 295X2
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 512GB (x2, RAID 0)
HDD: WD Red 3TB Sata3

As you can see, I have AMD and I have basically a CROSSFIRE OF 290X.

I'll try to list the common errors/bugs and the fix.

  • I can't put the game on FullScreen!
Answer: EXIT those softwares: TeamViewer, Blustacks, Puush, DXtory, Evolve

  • I can't select 1080p / more than 1080p!
Answer: Make sure you're in Fullscreen with the game.

  • Game crash when changing to fullscreen / changing refreshrate!
DISABLE ALL THE OTHER MONITORS - I have a small 1280x1024 monitor on the side and disabling it while playing helped it with the bsod. (just unplug the video cable.

  • (AMD) My game stutters a lot while driving
Answer: DOWNLOAD THIS[support.amd.com], it FIXED my issue. Also make sure to UNINSTALL ANY AMD SOFTWARE you have on your system BEFORE installing this.

  • (AMD) Still a lot of stuttering!
Answer: Try to disable the suggested limit for vram (very first setting in the graphics tab, put DIRECTX 11 and put AMD CH under Blending (bottom of the Graphics tab)

  • Game crash with switchable graphics (Laptop)
Answer: Currently I don't think such a nichè feature is available and optimised for this game. Also make sure you're running this game on a desktop for best performance.

  • Out of memory?
Answer: Most of the times the card simply isn't powerful enough to run the game. Try to lower all the possible settings and keep an eye on the vram usage, NEVER exceed 4/5 of the bar (say it's 4096, don't go above 3.2gb)
For GTX 970 Users, DON'T go above 3GB, you card doesn't really have 4GB as 0.5GB is unavailable for use.

  • Game loading in background, trying to click on it makes it crash?
If you have any gamepads connected, UNPLUG THEM, and restart the game.

Also VRAM > Shared Memory, remember this well before asking.

HERE'S MY CURRENT RESULT - WITH ALL THE FIXES

I will add better formatting later.

Please ask for this to be a sticky, so everyone can access it more easily.

I fixed my constant crashing by rolling back from the latest Nvidia driver to the previous one.

What about "out of memory" for the switchable graphics, such as a Dell Inspiron 7520?

I (sadly) don't have Nvidia so I can't help much with that. Technically removing all the mointors and virtual-monitors junk (like TeamViewer) should help with the crashes. It did for me.

Pretty sure you can't run this game on a laptop, especially a laptop like that.
It goes out of memory because well, it requires more memory than a graphic processor with it's vram on a laptop can offer.

I suggest getting an eGPU or trying to play it on a desktop.

But I can run it if I disable one of my graphics cards, like, it uses onboard graphics if I disable one of my two, and it runs fine but is really laggy.

Onboard graphics should be a nono for games like this. And no wonders it does run laggy because like I said, a laptop gpu can't hope to run this decently (unless you have some expensive "dedicated" gaming laptops.
My best guess is for you to crank down all the possible settings to the lowest and lower your resolution as well.
Try to put the process to "High" in the Task Manager too.

Could you accept my friend request, Atlas?

Yes, but I suggest you replying here so we can try to help other people as well.

GTA V is loading, I updated my graphics drivers. Hopefully it'll work.

My full error is: The instruction at 0x89b71fe5 referebced memory at 0x0000aab4. The memory could not be read.

Then there was another: The instruction at 0xfe4461b0 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written.

That means you're out of memory.

What type of memory though? I have 8 GB of RAM.
Bynarth Apr 13, 2015 @ 10:27pm
VRAM.
Mind: VRAM, not shared memory between the processor bus and the graphics card.
Tinkuwu Apr 13, 2015 @ 10:27pm
How do I check the VRAM that I have?
