4GB VRAM required for 1080p Ultra settings.
Just wanted to give everyone the heads up if you are planning to play at 1080p and Ultra settings you will need at least 4GB of VRAM to play at 4x MSAA. I recommend a GTX 980.

I'm using a GTX 980 (OC @ 1400mhz,7950mhz) and can barely Ultra the game @ 60fps with an i7 3770k OC'd @4.5ghz with 2x 1TB WD Black's in RAID 0.

I haven't tested to see if the framerate is a consistent 60 but upon loading the benchmark everything seemed 50-60fps solid running from my setup.

Edited: Changed memory to VRAM incase people were confused.

Note: There's alot of trolls in the discussion spreading misinformation about lesser cards performing better than newer cards. These people are either A) Trolling B) Ignorant C) Lying. You will get great performance on lesser cards by turning some settings down or by ignoring the Advanced Graphic options. My performance results are based on literally turning every option to its highest setting except for MSAA, as 4GB limitations would not allow it to exceed 4x.

So i guess my 780Ti's wont be getting 60+ fps in 1440p with a littlebit of antialiasing? ♥♥♥♥.

If you don't have 4GB or more, youre a ♥♥♥.

4GB is not enough if it makes you happy

impossible to get stable 60fps on a GTX970

crappy port - quality shadow draw distance on ultra is like one meter ;)

Stop being such an idiot about this. 780Ti's are still valuable and quite good.. just lack a bit of Vram that's all.. blame Nvidia for this.

He meant VideoRam. And what has more than 4 gig of VRAM? Titan X or some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ AMD?
There were 780's with 6GB Vram.. but i can't find them anymore.. and only solution left is either AMD's Heaters or Titan/Titan X. I'm gonna upgrade to Titan X's anyways as soon as i saved up some Money.

780TI settings on 1080p game default game me very high settings using 2.3gb vram of 3gb
Alio Apr 13, 2015 @ 6:28pm
Yea if you're looking for the ultimate single card a Titan X is pretty much the only card that will run this game on Ultra @ 60fps. A GTX 980 can do it, but it's a struggle.

MSAA is the culprit :3 I'm using 2X MSAA got 2.6 GB VRAM , well not all are max setting, especially for AA and some of stuff I choose to OFF, it's still good :3

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... With good optiziation, you can run crysis 3 and GTAV in split screen on a toaster. 780 ti's are overkill for atleast another 7-12 years if games where properly optimzied. BUT, instead of optimization we throw horsepower (well, GPU Vram, Ghz ect...) at the problem.

Well MSAA is demanding as hell though.. and TXAA has a ugly Blurring/Ghosting (which i noticed in AC3, Black Flag for example).. i wonder if ReShade/SweetFX work though.. to use SMAA which should be enough for me.

i would love to have an option to cap the game to 30fps - 60fps dropping to 40 is just terrible, the game does not even look good at ultra damn it - quality shadows draw distance is a bad joke
Alio Apr 13, 2015 @ 6:30pm
Yes, MSAA is the biggest performance factor here as usual. However, the GTX 980 holds up very solid with the games VRAM requirements on max settings.
Alio Apr 13, 2015 @ 6:38pm
Glad you found a setting that works for you Gregoree! I was kind of astonished at how demanding this game is @ 1080p. Everyone deserves fair warning.
rabellogp Apr 13, 2015 @ 6:40pm
and there are still people saying 4gb vram is enough for those new open world games... waiting for 6gb/8gb cards before upgrading here...
Alio Apr 13, 2015 @ 6:40pm
Yes, everything is at its maximum setting except for the 4x MSAA. Bout to smoke a bowl and take a shower and then I'm going to start playing and perform some framerate analysis.
