GTA V Retail Version
Ok I want to know if anyone knows the answer to this. Will i have to download anything if I buy retail version? As my internet is 200 KB's upload and 1.78 MB's download. As you can see this will take a week at 24/7. Pain in the ass yeah? Idm if its a 10 GB download or around there, thanks.

I think that you should be fine. there may be a few minor patches, but should be way less than 10 gb. :)

Thanks a lot :) I dont mind doing patches and all, but will they be manaully? (dumb question)

Yeah, rehaff is correct. There may only be some patches or fixes definitely less then 10gb.

EDIT: I don't believe so, if they go with the same system they used for GTA 4 PC, steam should automatically download and install them (if you dont have automatic updates disabled).

On the actual GTA forums there's been word from some people who managed to get their retail copy from some stores, they say that there is a 5gb patch after installing from the disks... Looking for a link now..

First post I could find, but I remember a post from the same guy with screenshots of the installer windows.

Basically, if you don't mind 10GB... a 5GB download (for now, not known if there will be more come release) is even better for you :)

As far as I know, the Steam version already has this 5GB download included in the pre-load and will only have the rumored 50mb~ download to unlock the game. The extra download for retail seems to be because they didn't want to bother adding an 8th disk.

Thanks for the reply :) Big help, will only take 6 hours then, going to stores next week or the week after to purchase, but getting Killing Floor 2 first.

I downloaded the game in 13.5hrs and im on about 1.2MB/s. So with a 1.78MB/s im sure you can download it in like 8-10 hours or so.

Um no. Download is my connection, upload is the rate of my speed that i can download games at if that makes sence. My download speed for games is roughly 200 KB's so it will take me several days non-stop

Ah well, you worded it wrong. Your upload has nothing to do with your download. Also if you want the speed of your connection that would be 1.78mbps not 1.78MB/s which would make your connection speed around 18-19mbps.There's a difference :P

Not getting on your case, just letting you know :) And yes, retail version would be the best bet for you then.
