FXAA vs TXAA vs MSAA
What do you prefer more ? And why ?
Will you just use one of them for GTA V or all together ?

There is no ''MFAA'' in Grand Theft Auto V. So what would you choose for GTA V ?

TXAA seems to be going backwards in implementation lately. Most devs only use 1x which still has loads of crawling so it's not really any better than 4x msaa but far worse in performance. It also blurs textures noticeably.
If it's available I'll probably just downsample instead, but I will try TXAA first.

Quick run-down on them:

FXAA - No performance hit. Is the worst looking AA method, and isn't very effective at smaller resolutions. Can cause the entire image to look blurrier than usual. That said, combining FXAA with 4x MSAA is usually the most effective, and best performing AA method you can get. FXAA is also good for performance at 2K or 4K resolutions.

TXAA - Very demanding, but also very effective. This also has the tendency to blur the entire image, making it look more like smooth, film-stock. While it looks nice, it's not for everyone.

MSAA - The most effective and cleanest image. At 4x MSAA you get the best balance between performance and image quality. Of course, 8x presents the best image quality, and almost completely removes all traces of aliasing.

I'll be using FXAA and 4x MSAA at 1080p I think, though TXAA will be worth trying, to see the performance impact.

I can always force through the drivers, no?

FXAA will do fine for me DSR that res to 1440p on 1080p monitor. gg.
Also remember that we're actually on PC now so we can inject other Anti-Aliasing options.

That's some great information! Thank you very much, Harry101UK. :-)

What do you think about a combination of FXAA + TXAA + x8 MSAA ? That's probably not worth it, right ?

Combining FXAA and 4x MSAA is usually very effective. Combining TXAA and MSAA is not recommended, as it becomes very demanding to run, and MSAA / TXAA on their own can remove aliasing very well.

If youre using TXAA + 8x MSAA there's no way FXAA is gonna do anything helpful. As Harry said, 8x MSAA is almost perfect already so I don't think you'd need to combine it with TXAA eighter.

If your GPU can handle DSR, you may not even need to consider the former as it will take care of a lot of the issues.

DSR is good, yes, but it also requires more power than 4x MSAA in most cases. It also lowers your refresh rate down to 60hz, so if you're using a 120-144hz 1080p or 2K monitor, it limits your framerate.

Ok, thanks guys :-) I will see if i like the blurry from TXAA or if i go x4-x8 MSAA. It also depends what my ''Palit GeForce 4GB GTX 970 JetStream 1350MHz'' can handle ^^
