What is a Nvidia graphics card comparable to an R9 290

I want to sell my r9 290 and get something nvidia without paying too much extra

^^^ I agree both are great its really preference. A 290 would brobably do great in gta v. I only go with nvidia personally because of gamestream capabilities.

A 290, Is way above the recommended card for this game. Pray that R* ain't bullshittin'.

But yeah, the 290 x or not, still reaches the recommended specs for coming titles.
The Witcher 3 for an example.

i see more nvidia optimized AAA games coming out so it should be more optimized. the last time i saw an amd optimized game was saints row 4 and gat out of hell. i hope gta v will be optimized for both.

and please do not show the nvidia the way its meant to be played thing again. saw it a few hundred times when playing fc4, ac unity etc.

The biggest drawback with AMD's cards, I would say is the lack of Drivers. I run a MSI 290 on one of my systems, Havn't updated drivers on that since before Christmas.
Meanwhile, Feel's like Nvidia wants me to update drivers for every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game that comes out haha.

They released drivers end of last month. They just don't do monthly driver updates like Nvidia anymore. AMD stopped doing that in 2013 sometime. You still get drivers when they need to update them, and they still have a team working on them. I'll try to find the thing they posted on it and link it. Also when they have to (like when FC4 came out) they had like a new driver every other day fixing stuff.

Nvidia equvalant would be the 970, it's about equal to the 290x that you can OC the 290 a tad and equal performance of.

But yeah, Feels weird that you're gonna trade in 290, for somethin similar but only It's Nvidia. . Might aswell upgrade fully and go for a 970 then.
