what's better Windows 7 or Windows 8 for GTA V?
im about to reboot and i have both disks what should i install?

they tested that game specifically because it was known to have the biggest improvement on 8.1. still it was only 2-6% difference depending on res and card used.

and if you google it or look in the comments for that review you can see that advantage was mainly in the way 8.1 handled core parking. turning core parking off in Win 7 wiped out that advantage.

I find it strange he had to dig for some unknown website.

but....but... I thought an Windows 7 was inherently superior because you didn't have to "fix" or "mess around" things in order to have the best experience?

So now it seems a criticism being used against Windows 8 earlier is now being used in DEFENCE of Windows 7?

Like I said, even if this performance gap can be levelled out, Windows 8.1 is still the snappier OS even outside of gaming.

If we're going to slate each others sources because "I personally never heard of it, thus it is unreliable" then I'll state I've never heard of "HardwareCanucks" in my life. Heard of the other examples, though.

I already gave you the tomshardware link but you called the +1-5 fps a wash
but improvement is improvement so now we here....

I never said any of that. I was simply pointing out that BF 4 was the game that showed the biggest improvement going to 8.1 but that could be completely negated by simply turning off core parking in 7.

You missed my point.

You're unable to use a reputable website to prove your point, so you found a website that did. Anyone can publish anything on their website, which is why people usually quote the reputable ones.
