Can You Avoid PvP in GTA Online and Still Level Up?
I hate PvP in video games, but want to enjoy GTA Online. Are there enough Co-op events to level up without actually playing against other players?

I think you can enable and disable hostiles or PK , saw it in a gameplay video , he couldnt kill that player cause he had an option turned on .

"RP is an amount used to level the player up, and is rewarded for completing certain missions, jobs, tasks and other random things like killing players, losing wanted levels, completing daily objectives and collecting special cars."

That's from Gta Wiki. Hope it helps.

In free mode there aren't really any Co-op stuff to do. things like Heists and mission are the only thing. Maybe someone else can give you more detail.

I thought some of the missions were Players versus NPCs in a co-op setting.

You dont have to pvp to level up you can play coop missions with your friends, like you said it would be you and up to 4 friends fighting npc's.

There are many missions exactly like this. You can level up without doing PvP, in fact you are often rewarded bonus RP for playing cooperatively with other players. Things like riding in vehicles together can net you bonus RP, and there are other ways, but they slip my mind at the moment.

Certain missions allow up to 6 people to play cooperatively if I am not mistaken.

Open freeroam you will get jumped on by random trolls and griefers, but you can play in private instances to avoid them. You can also find a good crew that doesn't do that kind of thing to each other and just stay run crew instances so you know everyone there's on the same page.

You can play exclusively with clanmates and friends if you want and agree not to attack each other. In free roam, you can turn on passive mode which makes you immune to attack and disables your weapons. The co-op does get repetitive though.

I think you guys have a weird understanding of what GTA online is.

Its not WoW. You can just join a server with rules.

You can do a ton of other activities to level up and make money. They're just as efficient too.

Land races, sea races, air races, parachuting, etc.

Then you have other modes that allow you to play WITH your friends and work against NPCs, these include missions, survivals, packages, heists, a lot of free-roam activities, etc.

GTA online has passive mode with means in free mode you can't shoot at poeple and they can't shooot at you, it's meant to be there so you don't get killed by other players but they can still kill you by running you over so i suggest just going into an invite only game with your friends.

Yes you can . Just play in a invite only lobby by yourself or with a couple of friends who have agreed not to PvP and use the matchmaker to join races or missions.

Yeah, or by using explosives too.

Yeah for this pvp reason I stay away from online. Even if you disable pvp so you won't get "killed." There will be people trolling you like crazy. Ugh had it done to me in Read Dead Redemption. I know I am missing out on some features of the online, but I will only get on it with friends. Other than that I stay offline. I have fun either way.
