Did you interview those kids? Nope. What's your definition of a 'normal' family?
Do you live with them? Nope.
Weird how everyone says -with a sweep of the hand- 'normal' family. What goes on behind closed doors may be normal to them but not normal to you.
They may be getting belted by a drunken father? There's a multitude of weirdness going on in houses around the world, just don't go around saying 'normal' families, cause they don't exist.
How people live is their business and that's why we live and marry people that are alike to us.
So what's your definition of a 'normal' family?
Letting kids play adult computer games? Parents drinking/smaoking/doing drugs in the house around their kids? Parents walking about naked? Parents swearing/shouting/hitting each other in druken fights? and so it goes on. Just because it doesn't leave the house and the kids don't talk about it doesn't mean it aint happening!!
These would be deemed as 'normal' to a lot of people but totaly iunacceptable to many, many others!
That's why kids express themselves in irrational ways, becasue they can't cope.. So if you could find out about some of them now you may be surprised that they weren't 'normal'.
Today, schools and teachers are trained to look out for signs of withdrawn or outward behaviour that isn't fitting in with the norm.
Just for the record, i knew of a family that didn't have a TV and the kids and the adults used to just read, listen to the radio or play musical instruments in the evening.
I certainly didn't call it a 'normal' family -and no, it wasn't the Waltons and it wasn't 50 years ago!
yes i knew girls and their familys..... and yes i knew 2 boys from "cats gang" and their familys... and after all this was uncovered they were forced to move in unknown direction...
by word normal.... i mean common sence of normal that is acceptable by community/moral...
there is nothing wrong with family that likes to read, play musical instruments at evenings, tv in my opinion, is a garbage.... that spred lies most of the time(i am not talking about discovery chanal or net wild) , this perents want to raise educated kids with indipended point of view, unlike regular schools that destroys imagination...
in my childhood i have been forced to take dancing classes, read books and discuss what i have read, piano, balet, judo, painting, airguns shooting range...... all at the same few months, i had no free time ... my parents wanted me to find things that i had natural talent for, in the end i left with judo and dancing classes.
my granma was a math teacher... so i could solve math problems in few ways, sometimes in shorter ways than we have been taught in school, and gues what... this ways were not acceptable by teachers.... abnormal behavior in school is to think out of box...
untill grade 6 i was smallest kid in every school i have been in, i was so small.... you could step on me without noticing, i have been easy target... exp 1 thing i learned martial arts and could stand for myself.... sometimes i won, but most of the time i was *&^%# up by many... never mind how fights ended i was the guilty one..... WHY??... i was taking judo classes...
teachers said "judo made him agresive", but the problem was...in my unique way of thinking ... i was smarter i never joined stupid pranks, never tried to smoke, drink, abuse, protected weaker ... and i am not the only one who bihaved in that way(thanks to my parents and moral compas that they gave me).... but in most cases i was the one to drope blame on becouse of judo....
example:
in gta 5 i see no more and no less than i can see on the streets... nice view, cars, life (virtual), interesting plot...
but others:
strip clubs, drugs, killings, pro#$%utes- all of this our kids may find outside the house- and that is the problem we should be worried about.... and not game....
i think kids must be teached about world as soon as posible... they must know what awaits them, its perents responsibilyty...
if you cant explain about sex, hookers, sex with hookers and problems its may couse, drugs and outcome , cigarets, alcohol, you got 2 choices:
1-lock up your kid untill he is old enough in your opinion to know
2-let them descover by themselfs, and trust me they will, sooner then you think
in my opinion, each kid has his/her own personalyty, soooner you will treat him/her as person better, kids shouldnt be ashamed to talk about anithing with parents... we must be their trusted ally/mentor, and if you want them to secede dont let them down... we must not hold them, but give them tools to live in this world....
Ya know, cause there wasn't any crime before the internet. Police officers arrested people cause they called them bad names and crossed the street without holding hands.
/sarcasm
I see where you're coming from, but you're approach echoes that of many other biased and generally wrong arguments that videogames install violent acts on kids. Videogames are, for lack of a better word, quite zany. They will never emulate real life and when they try too hard to make it too realistic people call them out. There are rules and lines on these things. GTA will not teach kids to hire and abuse hookers, cause honestly an everyday hooker isn't really a looker if you catch my drift. It won't teach them to kill, they won't be prepared for the prosess of taking a life that can scar some of our country's bravest.
All in all if they can be molded by a videogame then they have enough issues to make them a threat in the first place.
But everytime my mate would pop his head round the corner, see what he's doing on the game.. He'd always be killing someone so he's not allowed to play the game anymore ^^
Same here, but top down GTA isn't exactly in the same league as V when it comes to violence
One of the random encounters when you're freeroaming is two old men with a woman pinned down trying to rape her
This is a game intended for adults, and I don't feel I'm being a hypocrite since I played violent games as a kid, because modern gaming is in an entirley different league with violence compared to games like Doom II and Carmageddon
No...
What are you trying to imply?! You mean my lawyer's degree from Phoenix Wright and driving license from Crazy Taxi is a sham?! That's preposterous!
