Nope. Nickname on lobby list is your Social Club account name (which you can change in Social Club options). Character name is just character name, I don't remember if it's showing up in-game except main menu.
For now characters names are usable only for creator because no one except creator can't see that names. But it seems that maybe in Heists DLC that names will be displayed.
Thats because of Console gamertags, the PC verison is more than likely going to use your R* Social Club name. Naming the character you make for GTA Online is just the character, that name is NOT visibile to anyone else nor is it used.
in-game name =/= socialclub name
They are seperate. PSN name is the name seen in GTA. I don't know how the system will work BUT I know that since people can get a hardcopy and bypass steam alltogether then that means they should name you off you socialclub name.
