GTA V Vehicle Handling Not As Good As GTA IV? Is A Handling Mod Needed?
First of all I have GTA IV on the PC and I have not played GTA V on consoles before. When my Pre-ordered GTA V on Steam is live, this will be my first play through of the game. Now I liked the handling of vehicles on GTA IV, cars were challenging to drive and it was rewarding when you learnt a vehicles characteristics and can drive through the city without crashing.

Reading comments on YouTube, it seems many comments state GTA V vehicle handling feels much more arcadey compared to GTA IV. Is this true? And do you feel a handling mod is needed to bring some enjoyment into the sort of diving I'd like to do in GTA V? The thought of driving every vehicle flawlessly makes driving sound boring. Where's the challenge? Don't mistake me, I'm not looking for ultra realistic driving, if I wanted that, I'd play a race sim.

In terms of actual control and perfomance the driving handles 10x better than GTA IV. GTA IV by far had some the sluggish and most unresponsive driving mechanics I've seen. Car tires were lubed up with oil slick all the time. GTA V driving has a bit of arcadiness to it, but it's MUCH more solid and looks a lot better than the slip-n-slide driving from IV.

It does feel more arcadey, but IMO it's improved.
All vehicles feel completely different IMO.

Oh so the GTA V handling has improved? But is it rewarding? Are all cars, although handled differently to one another, are they all so easy to drive that a novice can drive them perfectly without effort?

The first 10 minutes i hated the GTA V handling, but man, it's so much better than the GTA IV. So much more control, and so rewarding.

most cars can be picked up pretty quick but some cars you might need to practice with and if you ever get anoyed by your wheels popping off the ground when you hit bumps or if you hop a curb you can put off road tires on and roll over bump easier

Im already waiting for someone to mod handling back to GTA IV's. GTA V is way too arcadish like. R* had to do it like in Mafia 2 where you could choos in the options arcade or realistic mode of driving.

In GTA IV, I just went to get a handling mod. Hopefully that will be the same for GTA V.

The thing is IV's environment was pretty tightly packed, with mostly 4-way intersections so they could afford to make the suspension feel spongy and loose. In V they tightened it up a fair bit because you can end up going faster and needing better maneuvering, but a lot of the roads are more fun especially out in the country and you get a great sense of speed.

I must have spent 100 hours just driving around in the hills and beyond when playing the console version.

based on videos cars in GTAV look like they're glued to the road... I'm a bit sceptical, but who knows.

Some hate it, but the driving mechanics in GTAIV are the best and most enjoyable I have seen in an arcade video game so far. I was stunned when it first came out.

I was very sceptical when i saw GTA V gameplay first time, but it is actually much better and more fun to drive. In GTA IV, driving just felt so "heavy" lol so hard to controll when u drive fast etc.. No that problem in GTA V.

OP. Gta V uses the same Bullet Engine for physics. And there are all the animations and mechanics like in GTA IV.
So If there will be any problems with handling in PC version of GTA V it can be easily modded.
There is real chance that PC version of GTA V will be improved in this way. If not - see above.

If you thinking about preorder/not preorder: just don't. Because of GTA IV bad port.
There is no reason to pre-order. Bonus money can be easily earned in game. If you wory about pre-load - you can take pre-load files from your friend or by torrent(if there is no problem with copyright law in your country).

Cars in gta 4 handled like ♥♥♥♥, it was insanely arcade like, comical and so far removed from reality to make the whole driving aspect a pain in the ass, since when do regular cars have more suspension travel than most off-eoaders lol.

GtaV on the other hand has cars behaving like ... well cars, everything is alot more predictable and makes alot more sense.
That is to say, you would expect a super-car to corner flat and be responsive, and it is, meanwhile you would expect a big suv or an old car to feel slack and wallow in the corners with body roll etc, and, low and behold, they do.

Overall gtaV vehicle mechanics are a massive improvement and makes the game alot more fun, each of the cars feel unique, corner differently, and need to be learned to get the best out of them.

Sounds too CONFIDENT. Looks like common rejection of negative problems.
We will check this next month) Don't run away, don't hide. Your post is claimed)

Thanks all for the comments. I shall have to see for myself when the game is released. Rusty, I already pre-ordered my game like I said in my original post, no need to consider it or not, it's done.
