Hackers/Cheaters | GTA 5 Online Multiplayer
One thing I remember (even today when I play GTA 4) is the hackers in previous GTA games.

How long after release until hackers/cheaters make their way to GTA 5 multiplayer? I'm sure it will come soon since it's PC.

What will we do? Does Rockstar have an anti-cheat like VAC or Punkbuster?

Considering that they 'haven't taken over the multiplayer' on the previous two versions of the game across four platforms I think you'll live.

GTA has had time to perfect it's anti-cheat software and detection system. Most stupid people on launch day will find they spent $60 to get banned.

I didn't know they had an anti-cheat. Good to know, thanks for replying.
They have detection methods that are very, precise. Some people can get away with some really minor things that are too subtle for people to notice or even care but there are some very strict rule sets that will flag someone as a cheater REAL fast.

Punishment for hacking or using DNS servers is a permanent ban. Being on the receiving end of hacks that benefit you, free money, etc, will get the items removed and a two week suspension and put into the Cheaters pool. Minor glitching will either get you put into the cheaters pool and your money reset or a minor suspension, or both. It varies for glitching depending on how bad it is and how many reports are filed.

If you see someone cheating/hacking, report them. It does work.

Even if an accident? Like if I were to join a server and something happens to me randomly?
If it's an accident they would be able to tell as that happened before where players were given tons of money accidently. R* simply just removed the money and took no further actions.

If it's not a mass event of hackers doing that and you feel like you are the only person affected. Open a ticket with R* and tell them you were given money by a cheater and they will remove it with no other actions taken.

Are you some GTA/Rockstar god? You seem like you know what you're talking about.

Thanks for the extra info in that thread.

Because I've been playing since the original GTA V launched. So I know all the ins and outs of their systems, plus they post about them on their support website. Not in great detail to avoid people from finding ways around it but enough to let people know that there are systems in place.

Rockstars Support website, if you are wanting a source on VERY specific information then good luck because most all that information is from players/hackers trial and error and posting that information. There is a detection system for the game because R* wants people to buy Shark Cards and not cheat the progression system, two things that GTA IV did not have so hackers they didn't really care about. The online for IV was chaos to start.

Its just impossible to tell right now. The performance and optimization for PC are much more important topics to worry about as it dousn't matter how few hackers there are if the game runs at 30 fps and easily dips below that.

Uhm, bud. Sorry to be the one to break it to you, but DNS just converts ip addresses to a format thats more understandable to users, mainly atleast.

They might be able to find out who cheats now, but more than likely as its released to PC it will become easier to dev cheats for the online components and easier for hackers to find out how everything works server side as to how they find out how people are cheating.

You also just don't accidentally get stuff in games. Its either intentional or its not. Very rarely if ever would a glitch get through that gave out money and if so your not going to be the only victim of it and it wont be localized.

who the hell knows? Rockstar hopefully will crack down HARD on hackers, perma-ban would be best IMO. But you know, most multiplayer games dont have the kind of hackers gta iv had, because most games have actualy CONTENT. Gta iv multiplayer was like, "hey, do whatever the hell you want! We're too lazy to program real activities!" but gta v has a lot of stuff to do, so they probably will make it difficult to hack.

@Ridah

Sure, Hacking/Cheating is wrong, but what if someone makes GTA 5 a sandbox type game with mods? Spawn in guns, money, cars, items. It would make the game a lot more fun. Will there be a way to disable anticheat so we don't get banned for having fun without trying to ruin other peoples expierience?

Just based of this alone, I can tell you've NEVER played the game once. You really don't understand anything about how it works or what people use to try and avoid detection.

The game went from having hackers everywhere for a span of a month to there be so few that you don't ever see them, ever. I haven't seen any at all since the started banning people who used DNS servers.

There is no way to legitly play with mods Online, you will get banned as they have a progression system set up in GTA Online. You want a certain gun you have to rank up to unlock it, then purchase it with money and buy your ammo when you run out.

GTA 5 has so much to offer. It's kinda sad to see how all of it is limited to their online system.
