If you are trying to run storymode mods - then yes, battleye needs to be off.
Then you need to look into the storymode mods you are attempting to use, old, outdated, incorrect install, conflicting, people have even attempted to use rdr2 mods in gta5 in the past...., etc. This even includes verifying your game files in case you bork'd something else too.
Pictures to compare/directions to clean folder if necessary -

edit/below - descriptive.
Not playing 20 questions. Post a screenshot of your gta5 folder where you've removed version.dll and have verified your game files.
Removing 'that' file is possibly only 1 step of many - there isn't much detail in your first post, or the 2nd. You could be 100% vanilla, and still crashing from a plethora of other reasons. Av/sec, background apps, overlays, messed up media feature pack on N/KN windows, problems with directx, corrupt saves, onedrive, controlled folder access and more.
So, back to verifying the game folder is 100% clean of non-vanilla files.
