Modding with Open IV is ***ing Impossible and I need help now
I am literally about to ****ing snap guys. I am NOT new to modding but this wont work. Im trying to follow the instructions for gta 5.5 mod and it wont work. it just wont work. I move the update folder into the correct directory and the game instantly crashes and give me a dllinput 8 error or something. What is going on and can someone who is ACTUALLY good at explaining the instructions help me? Literally every single official open iv instructional manual is written by what seems like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ robot ands I dont understand what it is asking me to do. I thought I did but my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game wont work

EDIT: Gave up on that mod.

I saw a million others also having this problem

I am now using a few other random ones and they seem alright

Had to literally just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ uninstallt he game because moving the update files through open iv to mod the game broke my install entirely. Cool. What is with these instructions???

"Use OpenIV to open the archives as shown in this folder and place the files in the corresponding locations within your GTA V directory.
‣ Files located within update/update.rpf inside this zip should be placed inside Grand Theft Auto V/update/update.rpf"

wtf kind of instructions are these? Thats IT? None of that works.

First off - you need to disable battleye if you haven't. Open R* launcher, settings, uncheck battleye. You can also use -nobattleye in the game launch options. Just stating all this in case your mentioning of dintput8 is that blocked file window.

For the mod - don't have time to test atm. But grabbed the .zip to look at. You really shouldn't be 'moving' anything. In the openIV settings you can configure it to use a 'mods' folder, and to copy .rpf files to that folder if you are going to edit them. Then, you are not touching your vanilla files. Then, when you delete 'mods' you are 'clean' of openiv stuff. No need to uninstall/reinstall.

As for installing the mod -
Do you have a gta5 / mods folder? Make it.
Make an 'update' folder in the mods folder.
Copy update.rpf from your gtav / update folder - and put in 'mods'/update'.

Open gtav/'mods'/update / update.rpf with openIV

The .zip file has an update folder. and In THAT is update.rpf.
In THAT is 3 folders - likely denoting the places the files inside go into In the update.rpf.

Then, it appears to be replacing the gameconfig.xml - and that could be a problem too.
May need new one, compatible one, etc or extra adjusters.

In middle of making dinner but I will mess with it later if you don't get it working.
Hopefully this helps.. or something.

Yes, some mod creators give awful instructions.
Some.... give none what so ever.....

/goodluck in the mean time though~

Thank you. this might have been the battleye thing. notice how the instructions do NOT mention this anywhere? I rarely game online so i didnt expect that.

Reinstalling the game now to try again. What an absolute nightmare. GTA IV was 10 x easier to mod. I gave it like 4 mods within the span of 10 minutes using OpenIV and it was FINE.

The battleye nonsense only recently hit the storymode modding scene for gta5.
The last update I see on that mod is in 2023.

im not sure what this comment means exactly. What are you telling me by saying it was last updated in 2023. Genuinely confused

"this might have been the battleye thing. notice how the instructions do NOT mention this anywhere"

The mod being that old = battleye didn't exist for it to be listed in the directions.
R* 'did' mention disabling batlteye in the patch notes when they rolled it out.
