Also, how can I find out who put the bounty on me? And how can I find them and kill them so that the bounty is over.

There only 2 ways to remove bounty .
1 some other player will kill you and collect the bounty.
2 you survive full 24h game day = 48 min

To remove bounty you need to survive one ingame day (48 mins in real life) in freemode (timer stops if you are inside your appartment/garage. Bounty is placed randomly by computer A.I. drivers who you stole the car from. If player places bounty to you, you can see name.

if u dont remember who put a bounty on you it was prob a npc from stealing a car. As above said either get somebody to kill you or go to private lobby and w8 48 min. Theres an achievment if you havnt survived a bounty yet anyway.

They shouldn't be able to put a bounty on you if all you did was punch pedestrians. Bounties should be for griefers that kill other human controlled players only.

The npcs wont put bountys on you for punching them, but will for stealing their cars. You'll get a text an shortly after that the bounty.

I just had to kill two human players who came after me for the bounty. Just made it back to my apartment.

The most fun I've had in game in free mode was running away from people who want to claim my scalp. I never hide out in my apartment because that's just dull. If I could put a 9k bounty on myself then I'd probably do it most of the time just for the giggles it usually brings.

man, bounty timer wont go down if u are in your appartment, let other ppl chase you and show your driving skills

Private online sessions? How do you do that?

Go to singleplayer, in start menu go to online, then pick one. I always go to friends only.
