Cant Save menu settings

Just fired up gta 5 again after a week or so havent tried it since the new dlc downloaded. It booted up and was in windowed mode although i didnt change it.. got it to remeber full screen but i cannot get it to save it in dx11 or any other setting change. says wont save settings after restart because the setting file is in use by another program. Ive reboote dthe comp tried to do it offline and online mode and main game menu. im Getting real pissy please help me someone...

I'm having a similar issue. Since the last content update, my settings get reset each time I boot the game up. I have to go through the tutorial and re-transfer my characters every time I launch the game.

good news figured it out its a windows file issue easy fix.. just go to your documents folder then gta then find the settings.xml file, right click it and go to properties and uncheck read only.. walla prob gone!

I have the same issue, although I'm not having Steam version.

Everytime I'm launching the game, the online game disappeared, I always need to select single one and then change the person, however just after that I need to agree with all those regulations, and import my profile. Then it loads, but after running it once again, it's crap once again... and again... and again...

ok, I think I've found the solution by experimenting on another PC (laptop this time)

DELETE cfg.dat and pc_settings.bin files (backup them first, just in case) :-)

then run the game, calibration will be necessary, etc.
set your settings, then enter single mode, then switch to online one (this is the moment I've observed, that pc_settings.bin is being created), you should only be once asked to accept the EULA, and import the data of your game.

play the game, exit, stat up again, go to online and have a check :-)

the only doubt is my X1 pad connected to the PC, that might possibly f.... up the settings (I've not been using it @laptop)
