what does the new update mean?
does it mean we are going to have 2 copies of the game? does it mean that the "new and improved" version will make us have to start from the beginning progress wise? sorry if i seem obtuse, but can someone explain it?

yes i did, and it didnt really answer any of the questions i asked, it doesnt say whether i will have to start over from the beginning progress wise, did you read my post?
Yes, I read your post. And I saw 1 answer in the first block of text.

"All players who currently own GTAV on PC will be able to upgrade to this new version for free, with the ability to migrate your Story Mode and Online progress."

/goodluck

edit - and this -
"PC Support

Support for the previous version of GTAV will continue, allowing anyone whose hardware does not currently meet the minimum requirements of the new upgrade to keep playing. This also ensures that support for FiveM will continue uninterrupted while we work to extend support for it on the upgraded version.

Please note that to maintain this support, the original version of GTA Online on PC will be a separate instance, and players who remain on that version will not be able to play in sessions together with those on the upgraded version. PC Players who want to play with each other will need to ensure they’re playing the same version of the game. Both versions will be available to everyone who upgrades — and first-time purchasers will get access to both versions as well."

Read again , it says there exactly what you asked about.
really? it said something about game progress? i will have all the same businesses i have in the older version?
R* would have to be brain dead to make people start over. The backlash would be absolutely insane. If they did that - Gta6 is DOA. (or should be, some people are.... denser than R* if they did it). Also pretty sure console getting next gen didn't get their progress and business, etc wiped.

sorry if i annoyed, i just think starting over, while interesting, would be kind of grindy. thx for being so forthcoming with info. have a good one
Does it say anything about steam achievements, are we going to have to redo all the main game and online achievements again?

I remember when they gave the skyrim special edition for free for those who already had the original version and we had to redo all the achievements for that.

No, it's a version of the game that includes things on the other platforms, like on ps4, xbox, and other things, that weren't included in the PC version

probably we'll be getting the "we did all we could" situation with achievements, as they did with updating GTA4 to complete edition. some achievements will unlock after migrating, but some will need to be unlocked again.

In other words so you can understand, GTA V will finally be next gen.

The article clearly states that you will be given a option to transfer your progress to the other version. It almost sounds like you might be able to go back and forth between the two but most people dont seem to think it will work that way.

Rockstar clearly explains they are trying to support modding mainly for fivem from breaking to much.

All players who currently own GTAV on PC will be able to upgrade to this new version for free, with the ability to migrate your Story Mode and Online progress.

This upgraded version of GTAV on PC also features all of our recent player experience improvements for GTA Online, including kernel-based anti-cheat protections and proactive voice chat moderation to help keep GTA Online fun for everyone.

Only one more week, i dont really care about online, and im going to play the single player again. I bet the game is going to look amazing.
