Escape from Reinforcements

So with the double money on drug sales, I've come to realize I never did my dax jobs to upgrade my lab.. so I call him up to work my 2nd job.. I have to go destroy Merryweather hardware and end up blowing myself up, spawning far away and getting rushed by the reinforcements.

I had no choice but to handle the couple waves and then I was able to finish destroying all the targets. After this, the objective at the bottom of my screen displayed "Escape from Enemy Reinforcements".

Now this mission was down in the security guarded area at the south docks.. I fled and drove all the way up to the Freakshop. No AI spawns along the way, no one chasing me. I am pretty sure I accomplished the objective and escaped reinforcements.

I drive all the way back to where I was fighting the reinforcements and destroyed the insurgent, mesa and the van that I had killed the reinforcements from. THEN it finally states to "Leave the Area."

What in the ever loving April Fool's Joke R*?!? (This happened for real, I'm not pranking, but I feel like R* is pranking me) I killed all of the reinforcements. Nothing ever said anything about the vehicles the reinforcements used, nor were they marked on my minimap.

I can only wonder how many players have encountered this and thought it was a bug and aborted the mission.. I know I almost did, and was going to if destroying anything/everything left behind didn't work..
