144hz not working?

I have a 144hz monitor but when I try to enable 144hz in GTA V settings, it does not work I can only enable 60hz.

I am im fullscreen mode and my windows desktop is set to 144hz.

Using AMD R9 Fury x on 15.7.1 driver in Win 10 Pro x64

anyone else experiencing the same?

the game wont render more than 60 fps? pretty sure all i did was turn off vsync to get over 60, i dont recall doing anything special

if you go into the settings menu, there is an option to set the frame rate, any frame rate higher than 60hz i set, screen goes dark for a few seconds and comes back and the refresh rate is set back to 60

Have you checked that your graphics properties settings are tuned to 144 hz?

yes as I stated in the OP, windows desktop is set to 144hz
