Use the numbpad. Seriously.

Yea helicopters and planes are very hard to control. Example of perfect copter controls: Saints Row 4. That game controls infinitely better in the air than any of the gta games.

Saints Row games have always been better for controls.

On both kb/m and controller, they're pretty bad. The helicopter is always trying to correct itself, and it just leads to you constantly fighting it. It's especially noticeable with yaw, where it will go the opposite direction after you release.

The air controls in this game are stunningly horrible. Why they couldn't have made them good like in Saints Row 3/4 is a mystery.

Vehicles (cars, planes, helicopters) are easier to control with a controller than KB+Mouse. I'd suggest you pick up a Xbox 360 wired controller.

I use k&m to play and driving controls are perfect on k&m. Flying controls with a controller are horrible. Flying controls with a k&m are less horrible but still really bad. I bound wasd and ijkl for my two-handed flying and it helped me control helicopters much better to the point that when in sp I have to take Michael to the flight school I can complete all of the missions to get his pilots liscense without much trouble. Having said that though, no matter what controls you use, flying in this game is awkward and poorly done. Saints Row 4 helicopters and planes control perfectly though. Compared to this game it is night and day.

can't change yaw left or yaw right

Try it the way I do it maybe it will help you. I use Throttle up/down/left/right set to wsad in that order and then for rolling and pitching I mirror the controls on the right side of the keyboard with Roll left/right set to J and L, and Pitch up/down set to i and k. When it's time to fly I just move my keyboard over so both hands can be in place comfortably.

Because GTA actually has a decent physics engine.

Yes but realistic flying physics with a controller or k&m isn't a good idea. Real pilots don't use either method to fly they use a flight stick. So for anyone not using a flight stick, the controls are very unwieldy. It's like these games with realistic driving like GRID Autosport. Trying to drive a car with realistic physics with a controller just will never feel right. I used to own a steering wheel and pedals for pc and it made driving in realistic games like that a cinch.

It isn't really that bad. It just takes a while to get used to it. Granted, I have played all the 3D GTA games so I might just be used to it. They are WAY better than they used to be.

The worst is that you have to tilt over the helicopter everytime to aim combined with the unstoppeable train gliding so you have to constantly move just to kill something on the ground.

you just need to practice and develop the skills to fly good. just look up gta stunt flying on youtube and you will see amazing flying both heli and planes. but after the patches they screwed it up really bad for k+m. i ended up using controller for all flying.
