Sorry, GTA V isn't installed on this system...Please Help
Let me start by saying I've never had an issue playing GTA V before today (haven't played in several weeks).

I go to play the game and Social Club tells me that I can't until I update social club. I go to the social club site and find a manual gta v patch from June 15th, 2015. I've downloaded the patch, but when I try running it I get the message:

"Sorry, Grand Theft Auto V isn't installed on this system. Please reinstall the game and try again."

On my system, GTA and Stream are on Drive E, while Windows is installed on an SSD drive C.

I can't seem to find a real solution on Rockstar's forums. If anyone can help it'd be much appreciated. Was hoping to relax and play tonight...

Tried right clicking and running as admin, but it didn't work. It seems like there may have been another solution, but it's been deleted.

Make sure the key exists and is correct:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\rockstar games\Grand Theft Auto V

InstallFolder <directory>

Thanks! What should I do with that path - where should I enter it. I'm not sure where to look for or update this key.

InstallFolder must have the full path to your GTAV folder

New > String Value > Name: InstallFolder Value: C:\Program Files\Rockstar\GTAV

For example.

Here is what my install path currently looks like:

E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\

"I downloaded the GTA5 installer executable, and I tried the "repair" option.

Then I tried to start the game again. It worked."

Try that?

or this:

Ok I solved my issue by replacing the GTA folder from program files 86x to just program files (that is if you have a 64 bit system). This seems to be the default install.

IF that doesn't work, copy paste your Grand theft auto V files to desktop. Now your Rockstar folder should be empty. You can delete the Rockstar folder because social club will be installed automatically any way.

Download GTAVSetupTool, see where the default install path is, let it install and do it things. Then it will reinstall social club and will initiate the 60 gb download. Now stop the download. Go to new C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V folder. You can see some .exe files etc.

Now only delete the content in the newly created Grand Theft Auto V folder and copy paste the (60gb) files in the Grand Theft Auto V folder that you moved to your desktop in the newly generated Grand Theft Auto V folder. (only the files inside the GTA V folder, not GTA V folder itself)

I think the problem is with the patch not recognizing the install location...

Thanks for your help, but unfortunatly both of those options don't work. I can't drag GTA V to the desktop because it's too large for my C Drive. I can't use the GTAVSetupTool because Rockstar says that I need to use Stream (basically, it wouldnt let me download and use it). I can't download the installer exe for the same reason.

Any other ideas anyone? I can't be the only one with a dedicated C drive to windows and stream on a second HD.

Game is finally working! I verifyed the Cache on Stream, which took forever. When it finished, I re-tried running the game and Social Club didn't give me any issues.

Thanks again for your troubleshooting!

So I've got the same issue and tried all of the above, but mine still gives me the same code 9 error. Any other suggestions?

What worked for me, was deleting one of the .rpf files, from the game folder. I deleted the one with the highest letter, which was x64v.rpf, launched gta again, it downloaded missing file and hey! it's working again! i'll add that i never had any problems with gta before, only after tonight's lowrider update it started acting bollocks...
hope that helps

The way I solved it was I uninstalled the socialclub app via uninstallRGSCRedistributable.exe, and downloaded the regular version of the social club, NOT the GTA V version from: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200146066

After I ran the downloaded installer as admin, GTAVLauncher.exe successfully picked up the social club installation.

NOTE: The GTA V social club installer didn't work for me. I suspect it needs steam games to be installed on the main drive, which mine aren't. (Just a hunch).
