Everything you need to know about GTA V
The reason I created this is for people to be able to understand why they should forget this franchise's past and look forward to GTA V.

First I'll start by talking a little bit about GTA IV which everyone likes to compare V to, even though they don't know how the game will be like on release. People always say IV was a bad port and all that jazz, but they don't actually know why that happened. Past generation consoles were very different than the current gen (Xbox One/PS4, which are based on PC architecture) since their hardware architecture was very different than what we had or even have on PC right now. It was really hard for the developers to create multi-platform games, mostly because the PS3 was so different from the 360, which at the same time were quite a bit different than PC as well.

Basically, every game dev had to use different Software Development Kits for each console, many times even had to be forced to release the game on just one platform, so later they can get work done and release it on others, if not, it remained an exclusive. Now, to top all that, even if you managed to build the game for both consoles you had to port it to PC. And then you run into a whole bunch of new problems, because their architecture and SDKs were so different. Having to port a game which you started developing exclusively for the old-gen consoles is a nightmare for any game studio, not just Rockstar. That's why there were so many failed console ports in the past.

Even so, if you think about it, the response to the bad port Rockstar released was quite huge, since they started releasing patches after patches only a few days later so that people could enjoy their product better and faster. It didn't take them very long to make the game run smoothly for mostly everyone that had problems. Maybe the reason that we never had to see Read Dead Redemption on PC was because they knew porting anything from the old-gen consoles would mean another catastrophe, which Rockstar avoided all together after all the bad feedback they got with GTA IV.

Then there was Max Payne 3, which was built separately from the old-gen consoles for PC, and maybe even PS4/Xbox One in the future, who knows. Maybe this time the PC got the better version before the console, ever thought about that? Even if you'd think Max Payne 3 was not open world, look at it this way: It ran on mostly max settings even on low-mid tier PCs without any hassle and it looked amazing.

Now I think it's pretty clear Rockstar knows what they need to do. They know they can't disappoint PC users, because most of the wait time they had to encounter I think was because Microsoft and/or Sony payed a chunkload of cash so they'll keep it a timed exclusive for the old-gen consoles. GTA V is surely not a port from the last-gen and was most likely been developed separately for PC and then ported to PS4/Xbox One since now it's way easier to do with the architecture being very similar for them now. And also, they had quite a load of money to work with since the release of the old gen GTA V.

I think what we need to do now is pre-order the game to show Rockstar that they have our support, and maybe in the future we'll see their games first on PC and then ported to consoles later. If you don't want to pre-order the game, then sure, buy it whenever you can, but think about getting it as close as possible to the release since those are the numbers that matter. If the PC sales for GTA V will be higher than the consoles, especially upon release, maybe all developers will look differently at the PC. Maybe we'll get to have something like Halo Masterchief collection or Killzone for PC too.

Should atleast be 40-50 ... we deserve a little something for the wait XD

I don't think the wait has anything to do with the price considering the fact that this is a whole other version of the game.

Bump. Read this instead of making topics all day long.

Rockstar have been working on the PC version since 2012 and it's separate from the console versions. I pre-ordered my copy the same day the PC version was announced. £45 is nothing for a GTA game.
