P-a-c-k-i-e McReary event not occuring.

So, there's an issue with GTA V for me, where if I drive at high speeds or make any sort of quick movement, the world takes a moment or two to generate. I've been trying for three days in-game to get ♥♥♥♥♥♥, but his event does not want to start at all. I've tried using all three characters. I've tried at morning, afternoon, and evening. I drive back and forth at a fair distance by the supermarket in Strawberry, where his event occurs. I have a four-door vehicle at the ready and everything. Nothing I've tried seems to get him to spawn. I would like to have him as a gunman on The Big One, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, sorry about the spell-out of his name in the title. Steam apparently censors his name.

random encounters are random, just go, not there? do something else, check back in a few hours in game.

How far in to the game are you?

Both time for me it happened very early, before the first heist. Both times it was day time and was with Franklin after doing tow truck missions for the crack head lady.

I'm not saying that it would be the same for everyone, just that my experiences played out the same. It's also very easy to miss, the first time I thought it was just some random NPC and killed him before he could run off, found out later it was Packs

I know this is necroposting, but I'd like to add my knowledge for future reference. Below steps are what I gathered in many different forum posts, in a GTA V strategy book, and my personal experience.

I've googled many times on this subject and all we have is plenty of speculation - and little facts.

- People argue that he only appears after LifeInvader Lester mission (not 100% fact, but McReary will be available before the first jewel heist)
- There are no facts as to when McReary no longer appears (try to get him as early as possible)
- Can be done with all characters (A fact stated in GTA V Strategy book)
- Can appear any time of the day (I've seen youtube videos both night and day)
- The spot is very close to Franklin's first hideout (less than 20sec drive away)
- See youtube videos for the exact location
- Bring a car with four seats
- Two gunman are robbing the pharmacy, you need to be a get away driver for the gunmen

My speculation as to why the event doesn't appear:
- If you sometime get this event to appear and miss them, I do not know if they can "re-appear". This could be a reason why people don't get it.
- If you kill the gunmen you lose the chance for McReary (fact)
- Either you are too early in the game progress OR you have gone past a point where McReary no longer appears
- Could also be because of a bug/clitch (most likely something else above)

On the GTA V strategy book it says:
"When driving these crooks while playing as Trevor, you have the option of delivering them to the cannibals at the Altruist Cult camp (X) in Chiliad Mountain
State Wilderness. We do not recommend this as you lose the opportunity to have McReary on your crew and he loves to talk about his glory days in Liberty
City while on heists. See "Hitch Lift 2" for more details."

I am not entirely sure. But what I can tell you is that unless you get him from the start, then you should aim to get Chef to replace Patrick. If you don't get Patrick from the start and use him then Chef will be almost as good.

Ok, so i was doing the Mrs. Philips, when i noticed the two guys robbing the store, i shot the 2 robbers, and realized, that i was supposed to keep him alive, so i go back to the save, where they are alive, and do the Mrs. Philips, and i have spent a long time now,going to sleep and back to the drug store, and cant see them

sorry for necro posting but to answer unanswered questions. No if you kill packie, his gunman or both they do not respawn as that is picking the second choice of helping the store owner.Same goes for scaring him and abandoning him. you can get him back by loading the save back up just before you met him. if he still does not appear at the drug store near franklins families hideout just drive around a bit (sometimes even 500 meters) and come back after few minutes the event should restart...
