CPU overheating issues Intel i7-6700HQ
Whenever I play GTA 5 my CPU gets way too hot (around 90-95C) It doesn't happen with any other game. Normally I get about 70-80C max. I play on very high setting 1080p and get stable 60fps, but it doesn't matter waht settings I use. It's everytime the same. The only thing that helps is setting the max. processor state in Windows power settings to 80%. Then it dropps to 70C max. Any suggestions? Thanks.

you must not be playing any other cpu demanding games at all because 90C is perfectly normal for that laptop cpu.

Yeah I'd say that was about right, but the max temp for that chip is 100C so it is on the edge if it's at 95C.

Are you in a hot room and have the laptop on a bed or sofa or something? Does seem like it is struggling to keep cool. It is a CPU demanding game though.

I have the laptop laying on a large cooler master pad with 3 fans running directly into the laptop. It is very slim gaming laptop, thats why it runs so hot. I am thinking, maybe repasting would help? It gets burning hot in the back of the laptop, in the middle between the vents.

Try changing the thermal paste or picking up those pads with some fan for you to use..... I used to game on notrbooks and using it helped a lot...

well it will throttle which again is normal for a high end i7 in a laptop depending on the exact chassis. he really need to list the exact laptop he has as some of them are just going to have more trouble keeping temps down than others.

unfortunately much of the time laptops can run very hot, my laptop runs around 80+ degrees all the time when i'm editing photos and video, my pc runs cool as a cucumber and the cpu never exceeds 45degrees no matter what i throw at it but then even though it is more powerful by a mile it is also way way way better cooled

I have Aorus x3 v5, which shouldn't be having any overheating issues as Razer Blade has. It is not as slim as Razer Blade, but still pretty slim.
