HOW do u friggin !! view or change your date of birth in steam!!??!!
first of all i have an issue with gta 5 unable to access the store becoz my social club account does not meet the age requirements.
due to this rockstar has taken me thru troubleshooting steps and one of those steps requirement was that i have to send them a screenshot of my steam date of birth so that they could investigate further.
but i thought it was as simple as going to my steam profile or account and checking it and taking a screenshot.
but unfortunately i have searched everywhere and tried my best,i just could not find any area on the profile with my date of birth.
and some of the forum people reply with things like, restart steam or sign out and sign in back to steam.but i find this stupid as both of these steps do not prompt me to enter any date of birth or anything when i start the steam client.

and half the forum people are unhelpful coz when people ask this question, they reply like "why do u need to know your date of birth".
this as usual is so stupid and unhelpful.when people come on forums to asks questions and try to find answers ,it is for some important reason and when idiots like these reply 'why do u wanna know that.etc',then people will have to break their heads and spend most of their time on trying to get those idiots to understand why they need to know it rather than getting help about their main problem.

so if you are one of those unhelpful guys who does not plan to help me,then dont reply.i just want answer from anyone who actually knows about issue.atleast i need to find a way to know my date of birth in steam so i can send a screenshot of my date of birth to rockstar

But why do you want to know your date of birth?

Steam doesn't store your DOB, It may ask you for it so you can access a age restricted game on the store page but it does not store your DOB anywhere.

Judging by your attitude and writing ability, I'd say you are about 12 years old and therefore are too young to play GTA V. Sorry for that.

I actually also need help with that too. VR Chat says "Enter your DOB to continue" when you select sign in with Steam. Then I enter my DOB, "Please enter valid information". I'm like "Oh maybe there's an age restriction." so I enter a fake DOB over 18 years old. Same thing "Enter valid information". So I Googled it and it said you needed it to match with the DOB on your Steam account. So surely there's a way of checking. I created this account years ago, played twice and then never until now. I don't remember what I put in, other than my actual date of birth, what could 8 year old me possibly say?

this is awesome. lying about your age online is actually against the law so i don't think there is a thing you can do about it.

Here you go, the whole problem with GTA; children lying about their age to get into adult gaming. Next thing you see are these one handed Anime players wailing about the MK2.

lol this is bs. They use your DOB as a security check. Meaning they store your DOB and ask you to confirm your DOB at a later stage to be able to sign in. They have to check your input against something... lmfao

There isn't no need to answer a thread that has been inactive for 3 freaking years.

Your date of birth will be deleted if you delete your cookies and it will ask you this each times you want to view a 18+ game etc or content.

100% agree on the bump.

But STEAM don't save the month, only the day/year for myself at least.
Month always says January for me?

Month I was born is one of the other two months that begin with a J..
Older than dirt, so wouldn't really matter if I did select January though. lol

No, they simply ask your birth date.
Nothing to confirm. Nothing to check against.

Any birthdate that is exactly 18 years or older at the time will get you through this age restriction gate. Try it!

All they do is store your previous entry in the boxes for faster login.
AFAIR, there is a law (in the USA) against storing the birth date in these age gates.
They are required to always ask for a user entry of the birth date.

Before this auto-fill was available, you had to pick your birth date in those 3 pulldown menus, which was utterly annoying, so I simply resorted to enter 01 Jan 1900, as that was much faster than picking my true birth date.

bet someone is going to necro this thread again in 3 or 5 years :steamhappy:
BlankTheYeet Oct 20, 2024 @ 8:05am
im necro-ing the thread now.
for vrchat enter January 1st 1900. steam does not store your DOB and therefore sets it to that unless it confirms on like a store page, but vrchat linked via steam is too stupid of a baby to know this and therefore thinks you are 124 years old.

We do exist. There are plenty of people who are 124 years old.

The forum police will be here any second now to lock this thread.

First of all, everything you say and the way you type makes it REALLY look like you are an underage kid trying to figure out how to lie about your age. Especially the immature part at the end telling "unhelpful" people to not reply.

If I understand your problem as you describe it, your social club account will not let you access the store in-game because you don't meet the age restriction, and Rockstar is blaming steam and telling you to send them a photo of your DOB on steam.

Your problem is that steam does not seem to store this info. When you go to the store page you can literally type any DOB you want and you will be granted access as long as it's before 2006. It doesn't verify it against anything.

Furthermore your solution to this issue isn't going to be found from strangers on the forum, you need to contact steam support and ask them to help you solve this problem.

Best of luck kiddo.
