Rockstar should've done their homework
I understand the idea of having an anti-cheat for online gameplay. The update shouldn't have affected people who have mods and play story mode only. This should've been handled better than this.

You ask Lazy R* employees to do some homework???
Man, i bet they can't even count to 5.
'At least' R* did add an option to disable battleye in the R* launcher/settings.
(or use -nobattleye in the launch options or commandline.txt)

From my testing - once you disable it, you can uninstall/remove it.
(I removed the service, not the folder, will have to test that later)

Though, likely have to jump through these hoops everytime the game gets an update and hope the R* launcher/online startup process doesn't have 'a feature' added that requires it.

Ok, I want to make sure I understand you. I did disable Battle eye in the settings (game still wouldn't start). So now that it's disabled you are saying I can uninstall battle eye and play the story with my mods?
edit -
Scripthookv for 1.0.3323.0 has been updated.

That is what I did as a test and it worked fine - mods+downgraded game version) I just uninstalled/remove the service. I didn't remove the battleye folder from the game folder - in process of double checking/testing that right now).

https://www.battleye.com/support/faq/
Open an admin command prompt and run "sc delete BEService"
Can open services.msc after and see if Battleye's service was removed.
Uninstalling the game (or deleting the files) should have removed the battleye folder.

*opening an admin command prompt, navigating to the gta5 folder, and running -
' gta5_be 4 ' also appears to pop a window asking about uinnstalling. Haven't thoroughly looked into beyond that yet.

edit - after removing the battleye service, I removed the gtav / battleye folder, and even the new gtav_BE.exe - and it is loading up storymode / mods just fine.

Obviously, the game updated so you'd need to downgrade as well for scripthookv. Or, other mods are now outdated because of the update. There's no guarantee whatever variety of mods you were using will work with battleye disabled.
Downgrade files if needed - for 1.0.3274.0 -

Also, bear in mind this is in relation to the steam version of gta5 and it not automatically trying to update/fix itself like the R* launcher copy has in the past. Haven't bothered testing the EGS version today to see how it behaves.
--nobattleye or -nobattleye (I can't remember if it needs one or two -) should get the game to start with battleye disabled so that mods will still work in single player and any server that does not have BE protection

At least that works with most battleye games, might not if R* didn't add it the game
I used just 1 dash ' -nobattleye '

From patchnotes -
[September 17, 2024] - PC]

General
Integrated BattlEye Anti-Cheat for GTA Online
An option has been added to the Rockstar Games Launcher to disable BattlEye Anti-Cheat for Story Mode play
The launch argument -nobattleye has been added to disable BattlEye Anti-Cheat when needed on third-party launchers and Story Mode play

thought that might be it but wasn't sure so included both, thanks for the conformation
TO DuCkYdEaLeR :

THIS SHOULD NOT EFFECT ANY PLAYER WHO DONT CHEAT IN GTA ONLINE....JUST AS SIMPLE AS THAT.............
Not really true, anyone who has the steam deck (as well as anyone using linux on a desktop) can't play now and it is unlikely (tho not impossible) that they were cheating and certainly not all deck/linux players where cheating

Also the OP was posting about ppl who play single-player with mods which is not really relevant to your comment. (tho they still can play with the launch option, just not most, if any, online servers)

That's the crazy part. I only play story mode with mods but I can't get it to start (for now). I'm not against the online anti-cheat. It just sucks that it's caused an inconvenience for those who are using the mods for story mode.

I tried this and it didn't work. The reason it didn't work is because I have GTA5 through Epic game store. the file I downloaded and replaced is for Steam. I appreciate your effort to help. I will probably just wait for a patch/update. Note: I did not downgrade scripthook because I could not get through the first hurdle. Also: I don't think it matters but the only mod I use is Redux v1.18 for the story mode.

Scripthookv for 1.0.3323.0 has been updated.

I used the epic exe, on my steam version, and it worked fine.
I will now test the steam version exe, on the epic version.
I will also 'compare' them (the .exe's).
edit - Identical. Playgtav.exe, and title.rgl are not.

edit - Naturally since the files are identical - Used steam gta5.exe for version 1.0.3274.0 in my epic version - loaded story mode up fine with mods.

If the title.rgl from steam is put into egs copy - it throws an activation required error.
If the egs title.rgl is in the steam folder - it throws a file not found issue at start.

Scripthookv shouldn't need to be downgraded if it supports 1.0.3274.0
Testing egs version in a couple with some mods. edit - worked fine.

The steamapi_64.dll ? Possibly. They 'used' to be actual difrerent versions. R* over the last year or 2 has been attempting.. at least.. to make all the versions the same.

I do have the EGS version if you want to try it. Went ahead and added them to the downgrade link I have up there. Both gta5.exe, and title.rgl in case that file was an issue.

Are you ONLY using the gta5.exe or also the title.rgl? Absolutely none of my testing has been with the title.rgl - it was simply included because it changed (have since removed it from the downgrade zip).

Also sent a friend invite in case that would be easier to suss out if you want.
Otherwise, /shrug, dunno. Results I'm seeing here show it working.

edit ----
The RAGE Plugin Hook has now been updated to work with the new game version. Although LSPDFR does not need an update, the latest RAGE Plugin Hook is included with the LSPDFR download.
Note that an update for ScriptHook V - which is not required to play LSPDFR but is used by some other mods (for example ELS) - isn't currently available

edit- friended/chatted duckydealer- egs version working with info provided above.
When I did it, it threw up an error acting like I was missing a Steam file even though I'm running on Epic. Sorry I can't give much more detail.

I too have gta 5 on both epic and steam...and the files ARE EXACTLY THE SAME...
Looks like someone should have done their homework..
