The recent 9/26 ban wave

I've been keeping an eye on this situation after a ton of gamers (including myself) have been suspended wrongfully by R* and their new ac. I've submitted multiple tickets for appeal and continue to get the same robot response. Anyway, one thing I've noticed that I've only recently caught even though it's been out for a few days, is a recent solution published by R* it reads...

"Question: Why did my account get banned from GTA Online?

Answer: We are aware of bad actors who recently attempted to bypass our security measures and unfairly influence gameplay in GTA Online. Some legitimate player accounts were inadvertently affected by our security sweeps to take action on those accounts. We have since taken action to fully restore any player whose account was initially banned during our security investigation, but subsequently found to not be in violation of our Terms of Service.

An email has been sent to those players confirming that their account has been restored. Accounts where bans were removed may take up to two hours to be fully restored.

Bans remain in place for any account where an email notification was not sent"

Given that last paragraph and my numerous efforts to appeal my hopes of getting my suspension lifted have dwindled... I know I've never cheated, never modded, and I've only played invite only sessions... it's a real let down that's for sure. Anyone else waiting on that email lifting your suspension?

Considering how they haven't just unbanned everyone in one go, which was a thing during previous 2 false banwaves, this was expected. Pretty much they've spent few days unbanning certain % of players, and if you didn't happen to win unban raffle, likely you're screwed.

They should ban more to be honest. They should be so dang ban happy that no one plays online ever again. Because it was a terrible idea to begin with!

If I didnt get a ban email but I can not start the game because I can not log into Rockstar launcher, is that a different issue?

I have tried every possible solution online to fix it. I have also created a ticket where Rockstar only gave me the same suggestions found in a search, escalated the ticket only to go through each of those steps yet again, and then had them close the ticket as "resolved".

Will I ever get to play GTA5 again?

Yea that's a different issue, so you aren't able to open the game at all? Like can't even play the story if you wanted to? I can launch my game, but with my account being suspended I'm not able to play gta online

Eh not so much, could have been done much better, free roam could have been a very live and vibrant world with lots of things to do for people that just dont like the mission.business/heist grind thing, even if they don't get super rich doing them.

Just checked back at this and discovered that this message had been posted tnx to the Admin of GTA forums Spider-Vice who had posted about it there. I'm in the same situation as Op getting mixed up in the 9/26 banwave; a never cheated or exploited glitches told people horrible things in chat etc. Legit lvl 1K 2015 account with >10K hours of playtime.

Given how competent Rockstar have been in causing such a situation It should come as little surprise how they turn out to be equally competent at un-F'ing same situation.

Any doubters here at least now know that the situation was/is very real as it's now officially confirmed how legitimate accounts where banned in error.

I suspect Rockstar has unbanned a few accounts to calm the situation down. They really don't care about the false bans and I doubt they are investigating properly.
If you read here again and again that people are now starting over with real money, Rockstar is even making money with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ action.

So yeah ... my hope has fallen to zero and they can sink into insignificance over the years for all I care. I've never been banned, in any game, simply because I don't cheat ...
My frustration has simply been wiped away by anger. ♥♥♥♥ you Rockstar.

Btw - my friend who I used to play with wasn't banned. The joke is that GTA always reported my “nemesis” to me when we played because we killed each other so often for fun.
In the end, that factored into their BS weighting too, even though we're friends & in the same crew ....

You guys should probably try to get some proper media attention to this. Rockstar (Take2) does not care about what users write about them and their games on this or other forums, they care about bad publiciity in media as that has a potential to lead to lower profits. Contact the bigger gaming sites.

I'm not very sure what exactly triggered it. From my observation, there seems to be a trend where those suspended were long time accounts, usually plays in "invite only/private lobbies" and was not online at the time of the ban. I've seen that some players hadn't played in days or weeks even and they've received an email banning their account.
