Why they should give you discount if it is the top seller without any discount applied?

There's a good reason for that.
Just take a look at the steam summersale...
The prise was increased and we got a discount of 25% and a "free" sharkcard.
Basicly, you saved about 1 cent or so and you were not allowed a refund because of the sharkcard.

I can see it coming down to £25 ($40) for a christmas sale. The game has been around a while now, and that's a nice discount, nothing massive nothing small.

What makes people think that the public will know about Rockstar's marketing plans? If we all knew when game companies were putting games on sale + for how much, they'd make far less money.

Because it's a sale. It is just a temp price cut, it will have been half a year since the release, and it's not always at the top sellers. It's just my opinion, not saying it will come true, but they haven't had any real sale of it yet (on steam) but there has been sales on the none steam version. And steam sales only tend to happen during christmas and summer and special occassions anyway. So it's a logical thing to presume.

I hope they raise the price to 100$ on steam during winter sale and drop the price in all other retail stores to 30$ at the same time.

the problem with online multi player and friends is that they will get board and move on if you do not have the game when they have it

the problem with online multi player and friends is theta will get board and move on if you do not have the game when they have it

Iam waiting for the winter sale so i can replay Resevil6 with my friend in coop, i hope he will buy it this time. ^^

I agree with this point. It won't be a massive discount (25% tops) but I do think there will be a discount.
