This game has the worst UI and loading handling ever
Navigating online is just so unsmooth so frustrating there's no way people would be playing this game if it weren't GTA.

Where do we get started? loading online mode is the slowest process of any game I have ever played. My SSD RAID array reads at over 1GB/s and can keep up with the texture streaming in Batman Arkahm Knight at launch at highest settings. Yet Loading online mode takes several minutes to complete.

And that long wait can fail for whatever reason, when that happens, it takes you some time to go into single player (because you can't just retry connection because #logic), watch the stupid satalite animation, watch Micheal get out of bed while flirting with this wife, press alt, pick online, confirm that you will loose unsaved progress (because as if there is any), and then wait another 5 minutes for it to connect, only to tell you that it failed again and you have to go through all of that, again.

When you finally load into online, you have to again, watch the weather change, watch the satalite zoom, stare at your appartment for 10 seconds, wait for your character to get up, get lost in your own appartment, because it's so needlessly large, get into the garage, get into a car, and then you can start playing. Like WTF? How about, load me directly into the garage in my last car instead? Is it more common for people to visit the garage or the ♥♥♥♥ing appartment? So you drive outside, and realize you're in a russian session and have to change to another one, so back to paragraph 1 ♥♥♥♥♥.

And then, somebody invites you into a heist, you accept, now watch the camera zoom out, wait for it to connect, it tells you that the session is full because you know, there's no way it could've reserved a slot BEFORE the loading and animation start? Now you have to wait for 3 minutes for it to load back into an online session, if you're lucky you can spawn on the street like it should. If you're not lucky, you go through the last paragraph to spawn in your appartment. And if the game decides to you give you the middle finger, you fail to connect and go back to the second paragraph.

I'm just like, ♥♥♥♥ me! Couldn't there be a mission joining screen inside of free mode? Like couldn't it put you into passive mode and show the overlay right there? Do I really give a ♥♥♥♥ what my team mates are wearing? Even if I did, couldn't you just spawn their avarat right beside my character in free mode to show me?

Did I mention all the ♥♥♥♥ing cutscenes you have to watch every time you do a heist? Because ♥♥♥♥ them too!

I have the same issues but 5 minutes is greatly exqaggerating. It is closer to 20-30seconds and I do not have a solid state drive.

They should be able to tell you if a mission is full before you load away from the free mode so you don't have to reload all over again. Or if you get kicked out because people think you are too low level for what they are looking for or something even though you are in the 30s so show you know what you are doing, you have to load all over again. I realized pretty quickly not to accept any jobs that are in when you come in or rejoin a session after completing another job as they are typically full and outdated.

Even with these problems I have a lot of fun.

IIRC, there is an option in the menu to change where you start. On console it was the back button menu, don't remember the button for PC bc haven't played for a while.

You can choose to load directly into your garage. But yeah, the UI is pretty crap, but it's been that way with Rockstar games for forever, and they are slowly improving. GTA IV's was nasty.
Maybe in GTA VI we'll be able to check our bloody ping.

Yepp... This is what the last 4hours of todays gaming in GTA5Online has been for me. And you forgot the other fun thing, if ONE Heist member leaves, it's GAME OVER! Really frustrating!

Storage system read speeds have zero bearing on how fast or llong it takes when connecting to a network/service online.

It's very frustrating.
Accept an invitation to a heist like you said, it says it is full of players, would you like to join a queue. Whether you say yes or no, it has to load the whole game again to get back to freemode. And yet, if you make it to the lobby and the host kicks you, no loading and you are straight to freemode, so this has to be a bug.
I said yes to join a queue, then joined another lobby. A few minutes later, it says there is a slot in the session I am queued for, would I like to join? I say no, it asks me if I'm sure, I say yes and it kicks me out of the lobby I am in.
Very annoying that one player leaving aborts the whole heist. I don't know why it can't just put everyone on pause while it gets another player to take over that role, and that player gets the RP and cash as if they had done the whole thing.

Why do you use the invitation feature, when you play with randoms?
Use the quickjoin feature it works 100% and use the invitation feature, when you found a nice crew.
A lot of this frustrating things are caused through hackers with their mod menu.
Keep away from strangers :rrazz: especially, when they speak russian or chinese
Disconnection to singleplayer for example

Are your ports open or do you get the strict nat message ingame?
Maybe that is the reason for you connection-issues.
Ask your SSD producer, if he can solve your ISP-problems :steamfacepalm:
I get online in a mere 45 secs
