BattleEye is useless
Hackers are still common. It isn't advisable to play online in the current state.

The actual hackers who can bypass battleye checks, can also hack your pc. And now they have access to bios and firmware

Edit: before other shills try calling me a liar, and to save anyone seeing this, from reading 3 pages of stupidity.
https://www.maketecheasier.com/what-is-kernel-level-malware/

"Bootkits: it’s a type of rootkit that infects PC BIOS or Master Boot Record (MBR) to load malicious code before the operating system is loaded. They can install kernel-level malicious code and persist through reboots and reinstalls of the OS."

To be clear, im not saying modders with $20 menus can do this. But actual hackers, which theres thousands and thousands of in the world... Theres a good reason microsoft is working on disabling kernel access, and linux already restricts it.

And gta is the game to do it in. Its been almost entirely reverse engineered, and its such a large, varied game. That the exploits definitely exist, and should be relatively easy to find.

Idk how many rce exploits there have been altogether. But there used to be one in the OG heists, and more recently, thats why they had disabled the casino heist. (The heists are the goldmine, because everyone plays them. But the races and random missions, likely get exploited on a regular basis, on a small scale.)

They aren't saying it's the game process that allows the hackers to do that, they are saying it's BattleEye that allows it. Pretty sure a hacker can use BattleEye to gain FULL control over your system, including admin privilege.

At the very least hackers can now trigger a false positive which causes BattleEye to ban legitimate players who are innocent.

BattleEye is indeed completely useless for stopping cheaters, but that wasn't the reason Rockstar chose it. They chose it for two reasons.

1) It provides the illusion that they are trying to combat cheating. This is part of their effort to trick as many people as possible into pre-ordering GTA 6 because they suddenly care now about stopping cheaters.

2) It allows cheaters to continue playing for hundreds of hours before they eventually get a ban. This greatly increases the chances that the cheaters will buy a new copy to continue cheating for several hundred more hours before they're banned again and forced to buy another new copy. After all they want to be able to use the cheat menu they paid for.

No, they cant. Because they cant control BEClient runned on user side. BEClietn controlled only over BE infrastructure directly. They hack BE infrastructure? =)

Yes, they can. But only because control commnunication betweet BEServer and game, and can make changes in your game process that can be detected as 'cheat' by you BEClient.
UPD: And I think(but not sure) its already patched.

Is it really a lie? Ask yourself what a hacker gains access to if they are able to hack BattleEye infrastructure. Of course your average cheater isn't going to be able to do this, but what stops a hacker group from targeting BattleEye directly and using it's access to target anyone who has it installed on their system?

Even if it is patched, how long will it take before the hackers find a workaround and are able to do it again? BattleEye is notoriously ineffective as anti-cheat.

I firmly believe that Rockstar chose an ineffective anti-cheat on purpose so they could continue to profit from allowing cheaters to play. If anything using anti-cheat this useless could very well allow them to increase the profit they make from allowing cheaters.

Just look at how it's convinced so many gullible people into believing that Rockstar suddenly cares about cheating now. That alone will increase the number of pre-orders for GTA 6.

They don't care AT ALL about stopping cheaters, all they care about is maximizing profit in the short term.

Infrastructure doesnt matter.

Are they hacking BE servers, to load their menu online? No, its done locally.

Gta RCE exploit + battleye exploit = access to kernel.
