Black screen and computer death
I've had no problems until today. I've verified integrity of game cache and made sure drivers are up to date. All are green. I'm able to get into game but as soon as I try to get in to an invite only session, I crash my fans blowing hard and a black screen... which cause me to hard reboot the system. Anyone else experiencing this?

More details would be nice if possible. How many times did the incident happen? What does the Windows event log say?

It happened 5 times in a row. Could not retrieve incident report. Edit: figured out how to retrieve the report but can't make sense of it. Do I need to look at the errors or the crashes?

After watching a few YouTube videos I figured out what the problem was but I had to do some trial and error. Long story short, it ended up being my graphics where set too high. I'm using an RTX 1080 and using the recommended optimizations via Nvidia. I had a beautiful game for a few weeks. I had to push back all the settings to normal (R's baseline setting). There was an update that was orally force pushed that corresponded with the time I started getting this issue. Now I have to play at the lowest graphics settings... but at least it works. Looks like raw butt sausage with a side of F&*^ You, but it works.

Skoal, using same card. Everything on mine is max, and I have 120 fps with my monitor ( monitor has to capable of 120 fps). I had the same thing with the seemingly forever load/crash that made my fans (I have 7 of them) go wild. I finally shut it down with task manager.

It reverted back to the black screen of death. I'm unable to access the Task Manager as it completely locks me out.

old hardware slowly dying, enjoy that it lasted so long
you could send the card to a repair shop or better the whole pc if all the other parts are also as old and see if the can replace the usual troublemakers for some extra lifetime

youtube is full with diy videos how to refresh thermal paste or replace capacitator but for the average joe it is just easier to replace the dated parts aka the whole pc through a new model

Agreed. I got a good 8 years of gaming bliss for a $2500 investment.

its actually "the more you buy, the more you save"
since the AI hype will be around for awhile which also means this guy will just keep laughing all the way to his bank while probably saying "can you believe those suckers who would pay thousands for a gpu?"
