turn off battleye

BattlEye only needs to be active during online play sessions, such as when playing GTA Online. Depending on your platform (Rockstar Games Launcher, Epic, Steam), you can change the setting or launch option to disable BattlEye for Story Mode.

https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/33490543992467/Grand-Theft-Auto-Online-BattlEye-FAQ

on Steam you add -nobattleye to the Launch Options, right-click on Grand Theft Auto V in your library- select Properties - General

Yes, you can disable battleye, and be limited to storymode. Or -

I'd go to the location it lists -
c / windows / system32 / and RENAME D3DCompiler_43.dl to -old. Then go to -
steam / steamapps / common / steamworks shared / _commonredist / directx / Jun2010
And rightclick dxsetup, run as admin - and install reinstall directx9.
You could also go grab an updated version from M$ or something.
Either of thse -should- clean install/reinstall this file for you
Restart pc after for good measure.

Battleye really shouldn't be choking on that file if it is a default/legit/valid, etc file.
There's also this that may have more info - https://www.battleye.com/support/faq/

Maybe we'll get some actual feedback in this thread.. or the other.. or some other...

The problem is not the same as before if you copied/pasted the whole message you get. If it isn't listing a file being blocked - that is progress. In a sense you could state you had 2 problems, and 1 has now been fixed.

FAQ
When launching the game I get an “Update failed …” error.

In order for BE to operate properly, it needs to be able to download updates prior to launching the game. If this fails for you please make sure that your system and network has unrestricted internet access. Furthermore, if you are using a firewall or similar security software, please ensure that the BE Launcher executable (often named “[Game name]_BE.exe”) is allowed to access the internet without restrictions. You may want to add the BE Launcher executable to the software’s exception list as well.

I did add you, read my messages there.
/goodluck for now.
