Hi.Activate battlleye for linux please. I played this game through the years. Now I can't play

it would be nice, but Rockstar has become a company that's just as bad as EA, Ubisoft and all the other rotten companies out there. They were happy to take the last two years of sales from Steam Deck / Linux gamers and display the Steam Deck Verified badge on their Steam store page for two entire years. They can have support enabled. They just choose not to because they can. Rockstar took the money and ran and sadly as you can see from the first response you got, the community isn't very friendly anymore at all. By majority, the mentality is what matters to them matters to them and screw everybody else. If something doesn't affect them, they don't care about it. This company literally screwed over an entire console market, the Steam Deck. That's concerning. That's something all gamers should be concerned about, but sadly, this is where gamer culture is at in 2024. Truly sad.

At least you know where to not spend your money anymore.

I installed Proton BattlEye Runtime ( steam id=1161040) I could enter online, but after a few seconds I have message: the program BattlEye kicked you out of the session. Please try later

it won't work because EAC isn't BattlEye. EAC is a different anti-cheat system so those launch parameters won't work.

That's because support isn't enabled on BattlEye's servers for GTA5. Unless Rockstar has Linux support enabled on BattlEye's side, GTAO will forever be unplayable on Linux.

Generally speaking, I am indifferent to gta 5 online: it is one of the games where the story game is much more interesting than online. By and large, I think that gta 6 will suffer the fate of farcry 6. Dead games, in which huge amounts of money were invested and which were drained due to unsuccessful management

Oh yeah the campaign is by far better than online. What you said will probably come to pass. It definitely is a trending theme in the industry these days among the big pig companies and corps. It's especially been a strong theme for this past decade.

All I know is I don't expect unique and creative quality content from this company anymore. After this addition of BattlEye stunt they've pulled after thirteen years of neglect, it's shown Rockstar does not care about the cheating situation in the slightest except when it brings them money. They only care about the sales gained through manipulation and deception. Bank notes matter. That's the only reason BattlEye is here. Manipulation. Deception. Sales. That's the Rockstar way.

I think the reason they won't activate it is because some cheats running on Linux have a root access which makes them completely undetectable by ACs. So my guess is R* disabled it with Linux to stop the cheats.

i put my bets on a dispute between valve and take2 about juicy extra cash to allow it running on the steamdeck, which uses a linux os

it's very unlikely, those who have arch linux just play and don't do such things
